This reply is in regard to a query sent by Debbie Roth, to this site. I
tried sending it to her e-mail, but it was returned.
I saw your note on Washington Co. site of 25 Jan. It rang some bells, but
something didn't seem quite right, so I got out my info., & this is what I
have on the early Davis family in Washington Co. I know I have seen more
than this on Enoch & his early years, but, I may not have copied it because
he isn't the line I am researching. I am researching his son Elias, & his
descendents. Elias m the ancestor I am researching. This is from the
obituary of Elias Davis. Enoch Davis b Feb 14 1740 near Philadelphia, PA, d.
1837, buried Crown Hill Cem in Salem, Washington Co., IN. His children were
Elias Enoch & Abner. He was a soldier in the Amer Revolution with NC
service. Son Elias was b in TN, but came to IN from NC in 1819. Oh yes,
the thing that threw me was that Enoch m ELIZABETH Hawkins in 1774. I don't
know where, & haven't made any effort to find out.
I hope this info isn't too confusing, but it sure looks like there may be
some connection, w/the common names.
Barbara
