I am interested in your Esther Durnil. Do you know anything else about her?
She would be about the correct age to be a sibling of my g.g. grandfather James
M Durnil (1793-1867). He was the son of William Durnil who has been my brick
wall for about 40 years. James M. Durnil was born in Virginia, was in
Tennessee for a few years (1820-25 or so) and arrived in Washington County, IN in
1825. Two of his siblings came with him Aaron Durnil and Joseph Durnil. I do not
have an Eshter Durnil in my data base. SO, if you can give me any additional
info about her, I would certainly be appreciative.
The only Roberts I have in my data base is Martha Roberts (1852-1916) who
married Anthony Ott and connects me through my Seacat kin. Martha Roberts Ott is
buried in Mount Tabor Cemetery in Blue River Township, Harrison County,
Indiana. Blue River Twp, in Harrison County was the home of my Seacats.
Any info about Esther Durnil will be helpful.

For researchers on the Barnard family in Washington county Indiana or relatives such as Brewer/Caulkins etc. go to
http:/www.us-data.org
and click on Indiana and Washington County. There you will find a copy of History of Washington County Indiana printed in 1884. Very interesting reading.
Also go to http:/www.rootsweb.com/~nyjeffer/revsj.htm
This address will give info on Ruel and Polly Barnard as well as Pollys parents and siblings.
Also,
http:/donnasfamily.com/html/ped/ped01934.htm
will give a pedigree for Thomas Brewer, grandson of Ruel and Polly Barnard. Dates and names back to 1500's.
Anyone with info on these families or websites mentioning them, will you please post it here? Thanks, John Brewer
Does anyone know of a cemetery that has a Harriett Roberts, born Sept.
8, 1820? She was the daughter of John T. Roberts and Esther Durnil, who
are both buried in Martinsburg, along with most of their children and
grandchildren. Harriett is the mother of George Mifflin Dallas Roberts,
no father known. I've been trying to find her death date and location,
but have not been able to find anything after the 1850 census. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

John,
I don't know where James and Phoebe are buried. I have a Cemetery Book for Brown Twp, Washington County, In.,but doesn't list James or Phoebe. It list couple of their children at Hop Cemetery. I have found at Roots Web where some other researchers have Ruel and Polly as his parents. It has James in 1860 Brown Twp. Washington County,so he would have died after 1860.
My Grt. Grt. Grandmother Mariam ( Barnard) Jean died in Illinois in 1880's. Maybe James and Phoebe moved there after 1860. Just a thought. Couple of months ago i started to research the Barnard's, so don't know that much. If Caulkins is my line, would like to research that line also. If come across any info that can help, would appreciate it. Thank you for replying.

My gggrandmother was Desire Barnard Brewer daughter of Ruel and Polly Caulkins Barnard. Census for 1820 Washington County Indiana shows Ruel as having one male under 10 living with him, but Ruels brother Sam R. Barnard lists 3 males under 10. There was another brother named Obed.
Do you know where your James is buried? John Brewer

I don't think Isaac is Joseph's dad because the Joseph born 1821 died 1853 had a JR. after his name on the stone. I could be wrong, all sorts of reasons could be given that the Jr. was after his name, and the Washington Co. history shows no mention of Joseph Jr. in connection with the Joseph, Catharine & Susan walton, their daughter. A child born late, as I recall, to Joseph & Catharine was called Joseph Peter, so why would they name a child Joseph if they already had one??? Or would they? That Jr. on his stone really throws me!. Cynthia Stephenson Walton Maudlin is of course buried in Worth Co. MO, right on the Iowa border I was told, and sent a pic of the stone. Anyway, you guys probably know all this already, but I thought I would put my 2 cents in, as I live just a few miles from Tabor where Joseph Walton Jr. is buried.
Hugs, Mabel

Hi,
If you haven't found your answers you can email me.
Sarah's mother, I am not sure where she is buried, that is a very good question. I have a picture of her mother's house someplace, it was at Little York I think daddy said. I divorced in NY and moved back to the home place. My Grandparents lived with Sarah (who was my great grandmother), and I have her records where Sarah died at Madison, with a photo, and I have a photo of Jane Simpson, Sarah's sister. Sarah smoked a pipe and her grandkids would hide it from her and drive her crazy. The old home place fell down and pieces are laying in the field, my cousin now owns that property, next door. Loren Zink did alot of work on our genealogy. Elizabeth Hall was Sarah's mothers name, so she named her daughter Lizzie that married the Loyd after her. There is an old Hall Cemetery someplace, martinsburg?? with broken up stones. Dad said the Hall brothers were in the war, and were sent to Libby prison and when they came home they had TB and later died.
Is anyone here related to the ALLEN's of Washington Co. IN
My branch is Elisha and Sarah Akers Allen. We have lots of Allen and
associated family information which we would like to share.

I have the draft registration card (from Ancestry) for Fred Ribelin, who
shows he was b. in Salem 1893. I am assuming he is a son of Mary Elma
Barnett & Wm. Franklin Ribelin, though might not be. I would suggest
checking around the Shattuck OK area for other Ribelin families.
