I've been trying to track the children of Mathias & Mary Sheets Harmon.
I have quite a bit of info on Levi, Cutliff, Andrew and Ninevah and

I'm accumulated some info on sons Eli (moved to Vigo Co)md to Anna Newby
- had 9 children: George W., (moved to Sullivan Co)md Martha I Green -
had 9 children: dau Mary Harmon md Joseph Sipes - had 6 children.
Does your info confirm any of these children or dates of death/location
for Eli & Anna, George & Martha or Mary and Joseph Sipes?
Hope we can help each other.

Hello Everyone,
I was just going through some of my old paper notes (I do that from time to
time) and found the following information. I remember there was talk about
whether or not there was a cemetery for this old church. I believe I may
have received this from the Wash. Co. Historical Society years before
computers.
"Old Mill Creek Meeting House of the Society of the Church of Christ"
In 1826 was located in Sec. 34, T2N, R3E. The cemetery was over the line in
Howard twp. across the creek a few hundered yards from the old church. Amos
Wright was one of the active preachers. At his death he had five sons, one
son-in-law and one grandson who were preachers in the Church of Christ. In
1983 The Washington Co. Cemetery Association placed a marker there as
follows: MILL CREEK CHURCH OF CHRIST CEMETERY In Memory Of Pioneer
Preacher Amos Wright 1768-1846; Margaret Wright d: 1842; Rev. War Veterans
Wm. Grace 1758-1824, Nicolas Porter, 1763-1835 and others buried here.
(I did not receive this as I had asked for the NEWBY Cemetery listing.)
"Listed below are deaths recorded in the Mill Creek Church of Christ Record
Book, copied by Lulie Davis, of people who could be buried in Old Mill Creek
Cemetery and who have not been found somewhere else."
To be quite honest, I was thinking that this church was much older than 1826
... possibly it moved? I would be interested to learn if this is right.
Does anyone know?

There is a history of Washington County Allens moving to Putnam County. The
youngest child of Joseph & Hannah Allen was Joel Robert Mitfchell Allen who
moved to Putnam County (Greencastle) in 1838 where he had a successful career
as a tailor. The History of Putnam County has a lengthy biography of Joel R.
M. Allen.

Good evening everyone:
My family and I are on vacation in Southern Indiana and found a Bible in a
second hand store. It has a fair amount of family information in it so I
copied it. I have a hard believing someone would let that go in an estate
sale but.....
Surnames included seem to center on Washington County but I found the Bible
in Orange Co.: PATTON is the first entry of the grandparents, one of whom
was born in Kansas. Other names are MATTOX, MARTIN, TURLEY, COULTER, TRINKLE
and RADCLIFFE.
The gentleman who owned the store didn't seem interested in selling the
Bible, just displaying it (the published date was 1904). but to someone who
finds family in it, I believe he might reconsider. I have the name and phone
number of the store is someone is interested in pursuing. I also have taken
pictures of the entries and can email them to you if these name seems
familiar.
There was an old meditational paper someone had put in the front of the book
that advertised the Salem Creamery in Salem, Indiana.
Email me personally for more info:

Hi Debbie, I have a list from the genealogy library in Salem. There are
6 Lockharts listed. They are as follows:
Lockhart, John d. 11 Oct. 1836 {deacon}
Lockhart, Patsy d:20 Jan. 1842, wife of John
Lockhart, William d: 14 Jan. 1846
Lockhart, Elizabeth d: 10 March 1838, wife of William
Lockhart, Martha d: Oct. 1881
Lockhart, John b: 4 Feb. 1790
Hope this helps. I am descended from the Wrights, Haugers and Copples of
Wash. Co. Sincerely, Gay Fuller
Debbie,
My Paveys were also members of the Mill Creek Church of Christ and I've done
some investigating and found where there's an old ledger book (unindexed)
that has apparently never been transcribed. I believe it's at the
historical society. If I lived close to there I would certainly volunteer
to try to transcribe it (but, I live in IL.) I don't know if there's a
cemetery or not. My Paveys are buried at the old Newby Cemetery.
I do know that there are some Lockharts buried in the Kansas Cem...Syrena
Ellen Sherwood (dau. of James R. & Sarah Elizabeth Lockhart, wife of George
Sherwood), b: March 4, 1855; d: July 27, 1925. Also an Emily Jane Lockhart,
b: Mar. 20, 1854, d: March 20, 1927, dau. of John H. & Sarah E. Martin
Sherwood. There may be more, but I was mainly interested in the Sherwood
connections as they were originally from Caroline Co, MD, to Guilford Co, NC
to Washington Co ... same as the Paveys.
