I am looking for information on the family of John P. Williams who I think
lived and patented land in Brookville, Franklin CO., In and was m to Nancy
Morris abt 1825 or before. I have an 1840 FC and BLM records and the will of
John Morris father of Nancy. The Morris family lived in Reily Twp. Butler
CO., OH.
I did not find an 1850 FC in Franklin CO. but there is one for Brown Twp.
Washington CO. IN and 1860 FC for Jefferson Twp. Washington CO., IN,
The wife's name is Martha, which I am concluding Nancy died prior to 1850 and
John remarried.
There was also a William Williams on the 1840 census in Brookville same page
and 1850 census in Brown Twp. Solomon Little on the 1850 and 1860 census
same page. These families must be related.
If any of this sounds familiar to anyone I would love to hear from you.

Hello list,
I posted some time back without luck and so I want to try again. My line
of CRANFORD's came out of North Carolina and went to Washington County,
Indiana for a spell. I pick them up on the census, two of them. Marvel
Cranford and Isham Cranford. Marvel later returned to North Carolina but
Isham did not (or I believe that he did not). And if memory serves me
right, I think that Isham married a lady by the last name of CROW.
Anyone know of these folks? They went in the very early 1800's to
Washington County.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Cathy Cranford-Ailstock

I am trying to find out what line the Samuel Jackson who married Rebecca
Speaks is from. I know he was born 14 Dec 1805 somewhere in Co.(as was
Rebecca.) They married in 1831 in Washington Co, IN. In the 1830 census he
was in Orange Co, IN, in 1840 Dubois IN, 1850 Crawford Co, IN, then by 1860
in Clay Co, IL. Their children were named Mary Elizabeth (so was Samuel's
mother a Mary Elizabeth?, Joseph, Samuel, Sarah, Richard, Edward, Rachel and
Robert. ) From this, some surmise that Rebecca was the daughter of Joseph L
Speaks and Sarah Galbraith(Galbreath.) Because in gap between Mary
Elizabeth's birth and the rest, several still births or early deaths are
possible, so it is possible that a first male child born died.
Joseph Speaks, born c 1780 prob in NC, and Sarah Galbraith b? were married
in Henry Co, in 1801. Daniel Colglazier was named guardian of Joseph and
Sarah Speaks children in 1822.

Mary,
Thank you for the Magruder post, part of that is useful to me.
Do you have further information on those Jackson's the Magruders
married? I work on Jackson lines, of which the the earliest ones were
all Catholic from MD, to Nelson, then Bullitt. They became later
Baptist, and are connected with the New Salem Baptist, Nelson, and over
in Bullitt at that one on Cedar Grove Road. Descendants, that is.
You mention All Hallow's Parish, Anne Arundel, MD. Is that an Episcopal
Church, or Catholic?
Do you have the DAR papers on the Revolutionary War person Capt. Joseph
Magruder? It would give more information on him. Maybe you have the
information already.
I have an idea those Maryland Jackson's are some I need to know about.
They may be part of the 5 separate Jackson lines I work on. Who in the
world needs 5 on one tree. Obviously cousins marrying cousins, but where
is the upper connection? You may have part of it, and I certainly would

Does anyone happen to have any information on George W. KING (b: ca. 1818)
and (probably his 2nd wife) Mary SMITH (b: ca. 1826) who were married March
6, 1856, Washington Co? They are on the 1860 Wash. Co. census (Madison
twp.). Probable children: Louisa, Ann, Hugh, Hannah and Martha (maybe
more.)
On the 1850 census, George W. is listed as a Blacksmith and it says he was
born in KY. Who I believe was his previous wife was also listed ... Hannah,
b: abt. 1818.
Was he the son of Benjamin King who lived in Harrison Co? I am especially
interested in his wife, Mary SMITH.
Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Everyone,
My Gremlin's have been at it again! I apologize. I had a typo on the
birthdate of Nicholas CLICK. He was born December 4, 1822 (NOT 1832 as
shown below, husband of Sarah Ann PAVEY.)
Also, it may have been confusing as to who Sarah Ann CLICK was (she was the
daughter of Jacob CLICK and Margaret RATTS) and married Jesse O. PAVEY.
Jesse O. Pavey and Sarah Ann Pavey were brother and sister.
Nicholas Click and Sarah Ann CLICK were brother and sister.
Sorry for any confusion.
Marsha
Bob, Debbie & All,
Henry T. & Barbara (Winkler) RATTS' daughter, Margaret (1798, NC-1878, Wash.
Co, IN), married Jacob CLICK (b:1787, NC; d: 1878, Wash. Co, IN) on
1/5/1814, Wash. Co. I know that this info is probably well-known to
researchers so I will not go any further unless someone requests it (please
write me.) Their son, Nicholas CLICK, b: 12/4/1832, Wash. Co., d:
10/25/1898, Boone Co, IN, md: Sarah Ann PAVEY in Wash. Co. on 11/4/1844,
Wash. Co. and their daughter, Sarah Ann CLICK married Jesse O. PAVEY (b:
3/16/1822, Wash. Co; d: 2/13/1879, Boone Co, IN) in Wash. Co. on 11/9/1845.
I am not a Ratts/Click descendant, but a Pavey descendant (the reason why I
have them in my files.) I, also, have no LOCKHART listed.
Other surnames I have connected to the Ratts/Click line are: Elliott;
Cohee; Henry; Monroe; Moss; VanCleave; Hance; Small; Kersey; Bratton;
Coulson; Perkins; Wynkoop; Brough; Saunders; Christian; Green; Lee;
Mitchell; and Hayes.
Hope this helps someone.

Hello-I am researching the Willcutt (various spellings) and Jaynes/Jeans
familes of Washington Co.
Wm. Obadier Jeans/Jaynes m.Lurana Wilcutt in Washington Co., IN 11/19/1869.
I believe Wm. was form the hart Co., KY area, father David. Of lurana (also
seen as Lorena, Luraney, and Lurinda) I am not sure. Family lore syas she
was descended from Cherokee Indians. I know that there are Wilcutts in the
Oklahoma/Cherokee reservation area, but I do not have any connection between
that group and southern Indiana.
The couple eventually ended up in Jackson Co., IN, and had children:
William Arthur
Aaron M.
George Thomas
Joseph Henry
Lona May
James Luther
Edith Pearl
Lubertha
DeWitt David
Claude Roscoe
Charles C.
They went by Jaynes.
Looking for any information.

When the Aquilla SPEAKES information came through on the List I immediately
tried to do a little research on him (have several cd's on MD/DE records.)
I found absolutely nothing (not even in the MD/DE Rev. War Military

1790, Caroline Co.) With Anderson, his brother Samuel Pavey (who md:
Barbary BOLEN in Harrison Co, IN, 1812 and was in the same 1812 Military
Unit as Aquilla Speakes) in Harrison Co, it makes the Paveys and the Speakes
there at the same time. Anderson, Samuel and their father, John PAVEY
(probably the Indian scout that the Washington Co. History books write
about), were in Harrison Co, Harrison twp, 1812 & 1813. Aquilla Speakes, on
the 1810 census, was in Harrison Co, Harrison twp. I could not find Aquilla
Speakes (any spelling) in any previous census. The Paveys went from MD to
Guilford Co, NC, then to IN. I did find a number of SPEAKES/SPEAKS earlier
in Charles Co, MD.
If there is any information that I may have that someone would be interested
in, please write. Also, if anyone could help me fill in some of these blank
spaces in my FGS it would be appreciated. Thanks.
It is possible that Aquilla Speakes line came in via NC, from VA and/or MD,
as others of this family did.

If anyone has an answer about Barbara RATTS (1810-1881), would you please
post to the list? I would like to know also (and also about any other of
Margaret Ratts Click's siblings.) I show Margaret Ratts (b: 5/30/1798,
Rowan Co, NC; d: 10/11/1878, md: 1/5/1814 Jacob Click); Mary Magdalene
Ratts, b: 7/17/1804, Rowan Co; d: 7/13/1864, Wash. Co, IN. md: Jacob WISEMAN
in Davidson Co, NC on May 15, 1823; and Andrew Ratts, b: 2/16/1810, d:
3/13/1847, Wash. Co, IN, wife: Celia WRIGHT.
John Wesley PAVEY md: Sarah Alice VOYLES on 7/12/1892, Washington Co, IN.
She was the dau. of Hiram H. VOYLES and wife Mary Ellen STEPHENSON. Does
anyone have Hiram H. VOYLES parents and family information? This is all I
have on him. (John Wesley Pavey was the son of Noah and Elizabeth (HALL)
PAVEY.)
I am still trying to gather information on a Michael WINKLER (wife's name?)
who ended up purchasing most of the property of Anderson & Peninah (Beaman)
PAVEY after Anderson Pavey's death in 1855 (Wash. Co.)
Jesse O. PAVEY and wife Sarah Ann Click, (dau. of Jacob & Margaret Ratts
Click) had a son, Jacob S. (b: 1845, Wash. Co; d: 1938, Muncie IN) who
married Clarissa ELLIOTT on 2/10/1886, Boone Co, IN. A daughter, Sarah Ann
Pavey (b:1860, Boone Co, IN) md: Charles Aaron VANCLEAVE in Boone Co. in
1879. I show nothing on the parentage of Clarissa Elliott and Charles Aaron
VanCleave ... could their families also have been from Washington Co?
Rebecca Pavey, b: 4/30/1824, Wash. Co; d: 10/22/1861, Wash. Co. md:
12/16/1841 John COLLIER (b: abt. 1823) in Wash. Co. I have a wealth of
information on the descendants of this couple, but have never been able to
locate anything on John COLLIER or his parents. Is there anyone who has him
listed somewhere?

Did either this Jackson or Speaks line come out of Fauquier Co?
1 Samuel * JACKSON b: 14-Dec-1805 in KY d: 28-Jul-1864 in Clay Co, IL
Census: 1860 family moved to Sutters Point, Clay Co IL bef 1860

Rebecca is related somehow to a Thomas and maybe an Aquilla Speaks.

They married in Washington Co, IN, but the census indicates they were both
born in KY-but I do not know where in KY.
Their children intermarried with the Allens, Bishops, Sanders, and Leanard's

Other surnames I have connected to the Ratts/Click line are: Elliott;
Cohee; Henry; Monroe; Moss; VanCleave; Hance; Small; Kersey; Bratton;
Coulson; Perkins; Wynkoop; Brough; Saunders; Christian; Green; Lee;
Mitchell; and Hayes.
Hope this helps someone.

IDebbie Carter" <tara37(a)comsys.net] >> I am also researching Goss and Ratts
not sure where Lockhart fits in. I have a lot of information that I will
share. There is a good book that Margaret R. Hendrickson put out. I got
mine in 1992, you can contact her at 823 Dale Road Glen Burnie, Maryland
21061. The book is at the Salem Lybary and also your nearest family history
center can order a film for you.
I checked the index and she like myself don't have any Lockhart.

With the holidays behind us and New Years Resolutions in the forefront I am
taking this opportunity to encourage each of you to consider transcribing a
Census for the very worthwhile USGENWEB Census Project.
This Project is a non Profit group of volunteers dedicated to providing FREE
Transcribed Census Records on the Internet at the USGENWEB Census Project
page. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgw/census/states.htm
While I know the cost of a CD. (about $20.00) is not always possible for
everyone. There are other ways of helping such as Proof Reading.
Please consider helping us in the year just starting.

I am researching the Goss, Ratts and the Lockhart lines in Washington
county. I understand the Goss and Ratts migrated there from NC around 1810
and William Lockhart migrated there from Virginia about 1817. Any info would
be appreciated.
