Lafayette Journal & Courier - Oct. 22, 2009 --- WILLIAMSPORT -- Lola C. Strong, 86, of
Williamsport, died at 12:13 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at Clarian Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. Born in Georgia on May
9, 1923, she was the daughter of Fred and
Arizona Jones Holtz. She was a 1941 graduate of Williamsport High
School and was a Warren County resident most of her life. On
Sept. 12, 1941, she married Robert Kight and they later divorced. On
July 26, 1956, she married George S. Strong in Newport, Ind., and he
preceded her in death Feb. 4, 1982. Mrs.
Strong was a member of Williamsport United Methodist Church. She was an
avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, and Indiana men's and Purdue women's
basketball. Surviving
are a son, James Kight (wife: Bonnie) of Williamsport; and a
stepdaughter, Martha Crumley (husband: Wayne) of Bellevue, Neb. Also surviving
are a grandson, David Kight of Attica; a stepgranddaughter, Marlene
Stenbom (husband: Bob) of Apple Valley, Minn.; a special sister-in-law,
Wilodene Chaffin of Bremen, Ind.; 2 nieces, 2 nephews and a
stepgreat-grandson. Lola was preceded in death by a brother, Robert J.
Chaffin; and a stepgreat-granddaughter. She loved her family, home,
friends and neighbors, and especially her cat, Ebony. Visitation
from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at
the Williamsport United Methodist Church, the Revs. Charles B. Anderson
and Don Williams officiating. Interment at Highland Cemetery. In lieu
of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Warren County
