I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to the WARNER Family. The
first is a photograph identified within the photo album it came from as
Grandmother WARNER. The names Grandmother Abigail PICKETT or PACKETT WARNER
and Mrs. WARNER are also written on the back of the photograph. The name
PICKETT or PACKETT is also hard to read as it appears to have been smeared.
The photograph was taken at the John Davanagh Studio in Williamsport,
Indiana sometime during the 1860's since it does include a civil war stamp,
however, the date on the stamp is so faded I can't make it out. I would
guess that she was probably in her 70's or 80's at the time the photograph
was taken. The second photograph was identified only as "Grandfather
WARNER" and was taken at the J. P. Vail Studio in Palmyra, New York. It was
likely taken in the 1870's with Grandfather WARNER appearing to be in his
60's or 70's at the time. Some writing on the back of the photograph
suggests that a bust of the photograph was ordered, but no additional clues
to his identity appear.
I'm hoping to be able to return the photographs to family so that they can
once again become a cherished family possession. If you are a member of
this WARNER Family, or know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
