Emma Watkins Harmon was a sister to my gr.grandfather Henry Watkins. I'd
love to hear from anyone related to this branch of the Watkins family!

LIFE'S TOILS ARE OVER
EMMA E. WATKINS, daughter of JOSIAH and ELIZABETH [GOWTY] WATKINS was born
in Maryland, October 7, 1853, and died October 1, 1915, aged 61 years, 11
months and 24 days.
July 26th, 1875, she was united in marriage to WILLIAM HARMON. To this
union five children were born--ABIE, ELIZABETH, WILBUR and ALTA, all
residing near the parental home, and OSCAR, who died Jan. 23, 1905.
She leaves besides the husband and children, seven grandchildren and five
brothers and sisters, Mrs. AMANDA [DAVIS] WATKINS [wife of WILLIAM HENRY
WATKINS], of Green Hill; FRANK [WILLIAM FRANKLIN] DAVIS, of Philadelphia
[died in Caroline Co., MD]; HENRY WATKINS, of Battle Ground [Tippecanoe
Co., IN]; JOHN G. WATKINS, of [Benton Co.] Arkansas, and Mrs. JOSEPHINE
LAMB, of Battle Ground. (Picture of Josephine -

For the past three months Mrs. HARMON had been a patient sufferer. All that
loving hands could do was done, but from the first there was no hope, her
recovery being impossible.
In early girlhood she united with the United Brethren Church. Although not
a regular attendant at any church she lived a Christian life, always
believing that she should do unto others as they should do unto her. She
was always cheerful, devoted to her husband, family and home.
"But the lonely sheaf in the harvest field
That some weary hand has bound.
Will stand through shadow, and cloud, and rain
Alone on the rugged ground.
Till the patient worker himself grows ripe
For the harvest of the Heaven above
And is gathered in by the Father's hand,
And saved by the Father's love."
The funeral services were conducted Monday morning at 10:00 o'clock from the
Green Hill United Brethren Church, Rev. W.B. Taylor, of Otterbein
officiating. Interment made in the Davis Cemetery.
