I am sending this Obit to Vermilion County and Warren County because the
families lived in both counties. Pam Villafuerte
From the Danville Commercial News, Monday, April 28, 1924:
ROSSVILLE MAN DIES AT HOSPITAL
Zachariah NORTON, broom maker and former farmer, many years a resident
of Rossville, died at St. Elizabeth's hospital at 3:20 (hard to read) o'clock
Saturday evening after a long illness. He had been there for two weeks
undergoing a course of medical treatment.
He was born Dec. 8 (or 5?) 1849 in Maine, the son of John and Ruth
McMinn NORTON. The body was removed to the Berkalter undertaking parlore,
prepared for burial, and remained there until Monday afternoon when it was
taken overland to Rossville, going direct to the Church of Christ, where
services were held. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery.
(NOTE: This is my family line and his mother's name was Rachel McINTOSH.
Also, he was born in Warren County, Indiana and his father was born in Maine.)
