Hi Brent,
I have a John Ray b. Jan 1820 in Ohio. He was married to Caroline (last name unknown)in
Vigo Co. Indiana in 1841, then moved to Crooked Creek, Jasper County, Illinois after the
birth of their first daughter Matilda in 1844. Other children of John and Caroline are:
William, Samuel, Abraham, John and James, and Andrew Jackson Ray (son from 2nd wife
Lucinda Jane Miller).
According to a marriage resgistration of one of his sons, they are of Irish descent. And,
if we are to believe in family lore, the family had come from Kentucky.
Not having the name or birthplace of my John Ray's parents, I am unable to verify ties
to Ireland, Kentucky, or any other Ray families.
However, I do have DNA test results from my brother. Do you know if any of your Ray family
members have had DNA testing?
I would be happy to share our results.
Thanks
PM Ray
