Hi Jody,
It was likely Indiana State Normal School in Terre Haute, IN. A "normal
school" was a school that educated those who wanted to teach. The school
operated under that name from 1865 to 1929. It was then renamed Indiana
State Teacher's College, from 1929 to 1961. Next, it was called Indiana
State College, from 1961 to 1965. Finally it became Indiana State
University, and is still operating under that name today.
Indiana State Normal School opened for classes on 6 January 1870, with 23
students and 3 faculty members.
