Wow, it has been nearly 8 years since I posted that message. I have learned more about
the Larkin(s) or at least have made some educated associations. My family line is the
Mattox connection.
By the 1860 census of Honey Creek, VIgo Co., I have David with 3 sons and a daughter. No
wife is listed, so I have to presume that she died in the year or two prior to that census
since the youngest was b.c.1858. I do not know who his first wife was.
In that same census (David is listed in the household of Sanford Larkins), Susan Mattox is
in that same household as a housekeeper, age 18, I think. So it seems only reasonable to
assume that is who David married a short time later.
I believe Susan to be the daughter of James and Elizabeth (Moyer) Mattox. As you
mentioned, by the 1880 census, there is a daughter Sarah. In that same census taken in
Riley Twp, Vigo Co, Susan is widowed.
The rest is specuation that I have not taken the time to document. First, there is a
marriage of Susan Larkins to a Robert Spear in Vigo Co on 5 Aug 1880. I do not know for
certain if that is David's widow.
Second, there is a marriage of Sarah Larkin to James H Tayler on 12 Nov 1882 in Vigo Co.
This is probably the daughter, but I have not researched it.
