I am a descendant of Elias Reeve, father to Zadoc born 1796 and Jonas born 1809.my great
great great grandfather. I corresponded with an Emma Reeves in the 1990's and she was
a life long Reeve genealogist. She didn't know where my Elias fit. She thought the
Zadock in Long Island was a possibility but she had know proof. She sent me so much
information that she confused me.My families name was Reeve and the "s" got
added on during the Civil War and by census takers. I finally found an Elias Reeve in the
Smithtown census of Long Island 1800 or 1810 so I know he was there. Zadoc and Jonas'
brother Garrett got married in Port Jefferson, Long Island to a Mary Dayton.
Zadoc b. 1796 went to Sullivan Co. IN around 1820 to build a mill.He then went on to Vigo
County. Elias Sr. got a parcel of land bought with some fellows in Lost Creek, Vigo
County. All the family came with except Garrett. Elias died in 1838 in Vigo County.
Emma didn't think that Elias and Eden were brothers. In the midwest, lands were opened
up and settlers came from various parts of the country, mostly by word of mouth. They
traveled the rivers once they got to Ohio.
Your related to Bethuel Reeve born 1725 married to Mary Haines. Emma has Bethuel's
father as John Reeve Jr born 1697 married to Sarah, John Reeve Sr.born 1673 married Rachel
Foster, Thomas Reeve born 1646 married Rebecca, Thomas Reeve married Hannah Rowe
