I don't have any direct relationship to this family, but have researched the Surber
family in Terre Haute. There are still Surbers living in that area. They might be able
to put you in touch with Kuykendall family members.
Sarah Surver is actually Sarah Surber. Sarah Kuykendall married second to Perry W. Surber
in 1909. Sarah died in 1942. Her first marriage was to Mr. Davis. Sarah and Perry did
not stay together for long.

I've "rescued" an old photograph of Rhoda KUYKENDALL and her husband Lo
HOLMES which was taken at the H. T. Biel Studio in Terre Haute, IN. The
photograph was taken in the early 1900's with the couple appearing to be in
their 30's at the time. In addition Rhoda is noted as the sister of Charles
KUYKENDALL and "Dad's Sister". Based on limited research I was able to
gather the following information regarding this couple:
Rhoda May KUYKENDALL was b. 18 Nov 1871 in Dennison, IL to parents John
KUYKENDALL (1844-1922) and Eliza Ellen NEWELL (b. 1850). Rhoda was one of 9
children born to this couple including, George W.; Sarah Elizabeth; Rhoda
May; Cora I.; Charles Ezra; John Pleasant; Clarence Leonard; Mary L.; and
Clifford Owen KUYKENDALL, all born between 1869 and 1890. Rhoda married
Lorenzo "Low" Dow CHERRYHOLMES or HOLMES and they had one child, a son,
Estel or Estal Vere HOLMES (1893-1963). Rhoda died 11 Sept 1932 in
Dennison, IL and was buried in the Ferris Cemetery. At the time of her
death her brother Charles was living in West Terre Haute, IN; brother John
was in Harrisburg, IL; and Clifford was in Marshall, IL, with the others in
Dennison, IL.
Sisters listed in her obit included, Mrs. Sarah SURVER and Mrs. Mary CREASEY
both of West Terre Haute, IN.
I am hoping to locate someone from their family so that this wonderful old
treasure can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this
family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
