Do you know what age she was when she died? What was her name as a nun?
Have you attempted to obtain a Vigo County Death Certificate? If she died
as a nun, she could be buried in the nuns' cemetery at St.
Mary-of-the-Woods, at least most of them are buried there - but I would
think
the order would know that unless there is confusion over her real name
versus
her nun name. Did she attend the college/academy before becoming a nun?
Where was she from - state and city? Might she have been buried there
instead?
One of the problems you can encounter, even with the library indexing and
other records, is how the name was entered. Perhaps a surname was used,
perhaps not. Perhaps a nun name was used.
She could be indexed under "S" for Sister......etc. Was she just studying
to become a nun and never professed vows? I have a sister who was a
postulant, then a novice and wore the white veil, but she left the order -
is that a possibility with your relative? Just trying to think of reasons
that St. Mary's can't find her. Wondering how this information came to pass
that she was there, but perhaps old records are missing and that's the
problem.
There are also some nuns from years ago buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Terre
Haute in the
Catholic part called St. Joseph Cemetery, but I
can't remember the story about them. I doubt they were Sisters of
Providence.

Did you check with the Terre Haute library to see if there is an obit
for
her? They should be on the internet with them.

Message Board Post:
I am searching for any information on Anna Behle or Boehle who was
supposed to be
in sisterhood at St. Mary's of the Woods. I believe she died
on Feb. 3, 1898. We have checked St. Mary's and they have no record. The
only information we feel sure about is that she died on the above date in
Terre Haute, IN. If anyone has any information about her I would appreciate
hearing from you. Thank you.
