Paul Zoldock shows up in the 1910 Pennsylvania Census. I don't have access to
it. Familytreemaker does not note county.
I suggest you check probate records for Paul Zoldock and his wife. You may
have to go to Pennsylvania. One reason children were "farmed" out was because of
death of one of the spouses. Since you state Zoldock was in Atherton in 1912
when his son married, it could well be his wife that died first. Adoptions
showed up in early probate records. The surviving spouse usually just put the
kids in the children's home and local couples needing FREE labor took the
children in without benefit of a legal adoption.
Check city Directories for him and family. Check George Grimes to see when
his "adopted" son shows up in a census. It should say adopted on census. No
matter what the "stigma" is. Just like Divorce, it is stated. There may also be
a
guardianship index in the probate office (each county keeps their records
differently) Check circuit court, land records and county clerk.
Hope this gives you some areas to search.
