I, too, am researching Clivers – specifically in Philadelphia, but possibly New Jersey as
well.
I know that my grandmother’s name was Lillian Connell (married to William Connell) and she
had three children, Lillian (~1907), Anna (~1908) and William (~1910) before she left
William and moved in with Frank Cliver and had my uncle Frank (~1919), my mother, (Stella
1921) and my aunt Josephine (~1924).
Lillian, Anna, William and Frank all used Connell as their surname.
My Aunt Josephine used Connell and Cliver -- and my mother, Stella, went only by Cliver.
They and their brother Frank were given up for foster care in 1926 and never knew any
information about their heritage, though my aunt and mom did find one another. They were
all placed separately. My mom and aunt are both still living.
We never learned anything about Frank until just recently, and we had no knowledge of
their half-sisters and half-brother (Connells) until November 2003.
I see from the 1930 census that Alfred, Josephine, Josephine, and Anna lived on Dauphine
Street, Philadelphia. I believe Alfred to be the son of my grandfather, Frank Cliver.
Please advise if you think there is a connection to your Clivers
Thank you for your time,
