I've never heard of a Bloomington Cemetery here in Vigo County. Could he
have died in Terre Haute and been buried in Bloomington, Indiana?
I looked at the Wabash Valley Obituary Index,
http://www.vigo.lib.in.us/~obits/320/l_1page28.html
for the name Lewis, and there is the following entry:
LEWIS DAVID 18/04/26 68 02 TRIB
So the obituary for the only David Lewis listed in the index for 1903-1920
is for the one whose obit appeared in the Terre Haute Tribune newspaper on
April 26, 1918. It is on page 2 and his age was listed as 68 at death.
Even in Bloomington, IN I don't know if there is a cemetery called
Bloomington. The older cemetery that is there is called Rose Hill. If he's
buried in Terre Haute or Vigo County, there are several possible
cemeteries - the larger ones such as Highland Lawn or Woodlawn that existed
back then. Lots of small ones too.
Look at the library's website,
www.vigo.lib.in.us
Look for departments, and the Special Collections Dept. You will find some
info there on how they will help.
The death certificate often lists the place of burial, but I have certainly
seen errors in them. The obit sometimes lists place of burial, but the
first obit notice did not always have that info.
Good luck!

Subject: [InVigo] Bloomington Cemetery
Hi,
I am searching for info on David G. Lewis who died in Terre Haute, Indiana
4-10-1913 (I think!) The death certificate seems to verify that he is my
gg
grandfather.
My question(s) are: does anyone have an address for the Bloomington
Cemetery? The death was in Harrison TWP so that would be my first guess.
Also does anyone know if the public library does any sort of obituary
lookups for that time frame?
Any advice greatfully appreciated. This has been my brick wall for 8
years
and the closest I have gotten is a death certificate with the right
name,
right wife's name, and right place of death. The date and place of birth
on
the back of the certificate are questionable??
Thanks,
Linda
