Today's BUTCHER family messages have been quite interesting, as I have a
BUTCHER line, only I've never seen it connected to Vigo Co before ... Putnam
Co, IN and Vermilion Co, IL primarily.
My ancestor, Samuel Butcher b: 1838), married Elizabeth Bird in Putnam Co on
Nov. 20, 1862. An Isaac N. Butcher md. Sarah E. Butcher in Putnam Co, IN on
Aug. 15, 1869 (4,343.) I do not know who Samuel's siblings were and very
seriously thought about Isaac N. being a brother.
Supposedly, Samuel's parents were James & Elizabeth (Rambo) Butcher. James,
b: KY and Elizabeth b: DE, but after checking the 1850 Putnam Co, IN census,
I believe I found this James & Elizabeth, and they did not have any son
named Samuel (nor Isaac.)
Samuel & Elizabeth had a son, Charles C. Butcher, b: Jan. 1, 1866 in
Stateline, IN who md. Mary L. Williams in Fountain Co, IN on Jan. 6, 1904.
Does anything here sound familiar to anyone? Thanks.

Does Sarah state in the letter that she's not married yet or did someone
assume that because her last name was Butcher that she hadn't married? The
marriage I sent earlier indicates that Sarah Butcher married Isaac Butcher.
It date of the marriage agrees with the 1900 census. Also,
Clara E. Butcher, 21, dau of Isaac N. and Sarah Butcher, md Harry V.
Monninger Oct 13, 1892 Vigo Bk 12, 47
and Bk 4, 13
There's marriages for Charles Butcher but there are too many and none
identify his parents.
