Thanks, I do know that at least one of the McMillin children moved to Brazil
with her spouse. I was just getting overwhelmed with all of the leads that
had turned up nothing!

Jennifer,
You might want to check Clay County Indiana as well. It borders the
eastern
edge of Vigo and the southern edge of Parke. Fontainettte is close
to
Clay
Co - probably closer to the Clay Co. seat at Brazil than to Terre
Haute in
Vigo. There is a genealogical society at Centerpoint that might be of
help.
The Clay County Genealogical Society's Library is located in
Center Point,
IN. It has a web site at:
http://www.ticz.com/~ccgslib which states that
it
is open Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 1:00 to 4:00 PM., etc.
There is a genealogy section at the Vigo Co Public Library: Phone
http://www.vigo.lib.in.us/ . Their web site is:
http://www.vigo.lib.in.us/ .
Also, I'm not actively searching the Craft line. However, I believe
some
Craft family probably married my collateral line of Royer / Funk.
I'm
going
by memory here - as my notes are not handy. I think Eliabeth Funk
married
a
Peter Craft. I later find Craft (girls) children living in the John
and
Catherine (Funk) Royer household in Bowling Green,Washington Twp., Clay
Co.
in 1860.
The above may be totally unrelated, but if you're at a brick wall, it
might
be a lead. Hope this may be of some help to you.

Subject: [InVigo] McMillin's in Terre Haute area
I'm researching the Mc Millin side of my family. My great grandmother was
born in or around Terre Haute. I am a bit stumped on her mother, Alice
Cecilia Fox. Alice was listed as "adopted" in the 1880 census by a family
named Taubeneck, Carl and Bertha Taubeneck. Her birth place has been
listed
as both Indiana and Illinois, so I was thinking that she was born in
Vigo,
Clark, Vermillion or maybe Knox counties. She was born September 1865 and
she married James R. Mc Millin in September of 1886. I have tried to
locate
a death cert for her, but I don't believe it was recorded. They
lived in
Fountainette when she died, March 1909.
James then married Ella King and had 4 more children, two of which are
still
living in Terre Haute. There isn't really much known about James
beyond
statistics, birthdate, death date, marriage dates, etc. He is buried in
Highland Lawn with his parents, brother and sister in law, Alice and some
of
their children and grandchildren. I did hear that he and Ella got a
divorce, but I don't know when. It would have to have been between 1926
and
1951.
Anyone having information relating to this family would be a great help to
me. I am also researching the Craft family out of Parke County if anyone
knows anything about them.
Thanks,
Jennifer
PS, I will be making a trip out there this summer and I was trying to put
together a schedule, any suggestions?
