St. Anthony's closed in the late1970's as I recall. My son was born there
in Feb. 1975, and I think it was only open a few more years. I remember
taking him to the ER there as a toddler as well. It was torn down and the
new hospital moved farther south in the city and is called Regional
Hospital. It has had several names and I'm not sure which one is the
"correct" one. Terre Haute Regional Hospital and Columbia Regional Hospital
are two. The former St. Anthony's site is now called Anthony square and
contains both condos and a living complex for low income seniors, including
an assisted living section.
If you are looking for any kind of records, I presume you might have to
contact Regional Hospital but I have no idea what they might have.
St. Anthony's hospital was located at 6th and College streets. It faced 6th
St. if I recall correctly. The hospital was staffed by a Catholic order of
nuns - maybe Franciscans, and had a nursing school. It was NOT staffed by
the nuns who have a motherhouse near Terre Haute, the Sisters of Providence.
