A little late following up here.
Supposedly one William McClain, from Merom in Sullivan County, was in Libbey
prison. He may have been in service with my ggrandfather in his first
enlistment:
Co H, 2d Bn; 41st Regiment Ind Cav, 3 years 1 Nov 1861 - disability from
Pittsburgh Landing & Shiloh 29 Jan 1863
I don't know the service record of the 41st beyond Shiloh. If Will stayed
with them he could have wound up anywhere.
If true, this would almost certainly need to be Wm C. McClain, 1827-1909,
buried at Highland Lawn.
Any detail you have on service of this and the following two outfits would
be appreciated.
Co H, 133 Ind Vols;100 days, 30 Apr 1864 - as Sergeant at Nashville 5 Sep
1864
Co E & F, 149 Ind Vols; 1 year 15 Feb 1865 - as Sergeant 'F' Co, 27 Sep 65
