Is anyone familiar with a small cemetery in the country (at least it was as late as 1960)
near Terre Haute that has some very unusual tombstones. The tombstone that I recall most
was a tree with a snake going up the trunk, and a squirrel, birds and perhaps other
animals. It was supposed to represent the tree of life, I think.
I have forgotten what the other tombstones looked like; I do remember that there were
several touching ones on the graves of babies or children.
My father first took our family to this cemetery on one of our regular Sunday afternoon
drives. Later I took people there too, but over the years I can't even remember which
direction we drove in.
I would love to see it again!
