Hello. Thanks for looking at that for me. I will try and get a lookup on
the 1900 census to see if I can place a Mayme or Mary (she was known as
both) Held with a Roos family. I went to the FHC last night and Roos
brought up nothing in Terre Haute, but I am pretty sure that is where she
was raised. Of course it could be Clay County now that I think about it,
that's where his (her husbands) family was originally from, was Clay County.
Hmm... I've tried family search with no luck. Hey, is anyone familiar with
the names Theobold or Philomena? Can anyone tell me other ways of spelling
these names or mispelling them? Or maybe even nicknames for them? The
writing was real hard to read, are there any names that are similar to
Theobold that I should look into? I can't find them in the census at all,
but it may be because the census taker wrote a different spelling down or
they told the census taker their nicknames. Who knows, what a puzzle! :).
Thanks again for the help. I will subscribe to that list serv, 1900 isn't
available at the FHC so I will try there, hopefully I get lucky :).

In the 1880 census there is a Annie Held, with a husband Conrad, I
looked
at
the Roos, then the Held's in 1910, and they are only in Spencer
Co.
together,
so this is probably where you need to look.
There is no 1890 census, so the closest on you might try is 1900, there is
a
INcensus lookup site that might be able to help, I don't have
access to
the
1900 census
IN-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L-Request(a)rootsweb.com, and just put in subscribe in the
subject line
This page is where you can look at the other people around them, and maybe
you can find the Roos here <A
