I had ancestors that settled Vigo Co. from Orange Co., NC, etc.--the quakers--and I know
of no one who worked in the mines.

My husband had two family members who worked in the coal mines they were
Carl Gillum And Herbert Davis. I do not know the names of the mines as yet.

You haven't offended anyone! He was just telling you to look at
the
archives for this site. He is right, I have asked for information
concerning
miners
on this list for over 2 years! I still want information about the
Miners
you
know, their names, the name of the mine if you know it, and where
this
Miner
lived. The more information you send, the more value able your
contribution to
family history. Most of us who have family that lived in Vigo,
Vermillion,
Parke, Putnam, Clay, Sullivan, Owen and Greene Counties had ancestors
or
Uncles who worked in Coal or Clay Mines.
