It is quite possible that there is no birth record for him. Indiana did not
require registrations until 1882; the requirement was not well complied with
until much later; in some cases the early 1900s. The only way to find early
birth records is through church records or bible records. You are fortunate
that you know is birthdate. A death certificate could confirm the birthdate
for you; however, if the person providing the information for the death
certificate didn't know the information, it won't be there either. I have 3
birth dates for my father.
