William Shaw was my great great uncle. I don't know about him working as a clown but I do know that he was struck by lightning and killed. His wife was both a Taylor and a Burns because she was widowed once before .. poor dear, she was widowed twice! Anyway, her maiden name was Taylor, her first husband was a Mr. Burns, who incidently was also struck by lightning and died. Interesting but don't know if that is true or not. My great grandmother was William's sister, Florence Ethel Shaw who died in childbitrh when she was only 32 years old. She was married to James Miller. My grandmother is Ethel Florence Miller Turtle and she is still alive at 91 years old

I am trying to find a home for my 5th-generation-Grandmaother, Rebecca Martin. Her date of birth is listed as 19 June 1826, and is listed as Clay Co, Indiana on the death certificate. Her father is listed as a James Martin, and in all Census Documents she lists her father and mother's birth place as Virginia.
She married at 20, so 1846 or so to Andrew J. Eppert. Andrew was the son of John Eppert and Mary F Eppert. They made thier home in 1850 in Vigo, County. They moved to Des Moines, Iowa later on.
She died 27 May 1909, in Minnesota.
If anyone can assist with placing her parentage that would be awesome. Thank you.
Mike

Message Board Post:
I am looking for info on Andrew & Ellen Johnstonwho were in Vigo Co, Fayette Twp in 1850. Andrew was b. abt. 1807 IN, and Ellen 1817 IN. They had children Ellen, Martha Catherine, Susan John A., Loretta, Jackson, abd Andrew J, I believe between 1850 and 1854 they left Indiana, and settled in Boone Co., IA. It appears daughters Martha Cathering and Susan did not accompany the family - is it possible they stayed in Vigo Co? They would have been mid-teens. I am attempting to prove that Jehu Johnson was a son of theirs, he was b. 1 Mar 1834, and settled in the same twp as Andrew & Ellen at the same time. Any info on the Johnson/Johnston family appreciated.

If you don't have any luck with the other suggestions in trying to find the bible, try contacting an auction house in the area. Many times when a family member dies, the family will bring in an auctioneer and everything is sold by "lot," meaning if you want one thing in that lot, you have to take everything, whether you want it or not. Normally, fairly good records are kept of what was sold so that family members can see what was sold and how much the auctioneers got for each item.
Also, put "Dew Bible" in a search on Google and also on ebay. I have found family bibles that way in the past.
Good luck.

Thank you for the reply. John's middle initial was definitely "W". It appears in the 1880 census as well as both of his marriage records.

I have a James Harvey FARRAN, b. 4/1/1877 Vigo Co, d. 9/23/1944. Married Dorothy Cordell 6/22/1914, and they divorced in 1916. On the marriage record it says his parents names are Bathalmew Farran, and Nancy something that looks like Gurdy??? Could John's middle name have been Bartholomew?
You can view the marriage record online on the Vigo Co Library website.
