Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Woodlawn Cemetery will not give any information out regarding the burials
there. They site HIPPA law. (Privacy law). At least they would not give me a
birth date for someone buried there.

A marriage record is more likely to have the complete name but a relative
of her family could have paid for the lot or be buried on adjoining lots.
Ancestry.com lists this Indiana record for a marriage and Marion Co could
have the complete record if this is your James Soden. You need to supply an
approximate birth year for Mary and if you know where the marriage took
place, etc. Check the death records for her children as well as the Social
Security applications made by her children. It began in 1933. Have you
checked the newspapers in the surrounding counties, Indianapolis newspaper,
church newspapers and church records kept on site or at the denomination
archive .

Marriage applications for Vigo County for the years 1914-1951 are online here:
http://marriage.vigo.lib.in.us/marriage/index.htm
The marriage you are asking about is not there. I have the WPA Indiana Marriage Index and that particular marriage is not included. Are you sure it was Terre Haute, IN?

No, I am sorry I don't have pictures of my Russell family member. Mary "Polly" Russell married Elias Michael in Beech Creek Twp, Greene Co., IN in 1845. She died about 1855 also there. Her father James Russell is buried in the Livingston Cemetery in the same general area. James was married to Mary Helms in Monroe Co., IN in 1825. His father was William Russell. I have no information about William but I assume he lived in the SE corner of Owen County or maybe even in Monroe Co., IN. Right now, anything is possible about who William might have been or where he came from before Indiana. Mary

James A. Russell was born in 1854/5 in Owen County, Indiana, but I don't know who his parents were. He married Annie Allen in 1879 in Vigo County, Indiana. One of their children was my grandmother Rebecca born in 1881. Do you have any photos of your "Polly" or other Russell family members?

Saw your subject post on the INVIGO-L(a)rootsweb.com
One of the best places to start looking for ancestors in Vigo County IN is the Special Collections Department of the Vigo County Public Library (VCPL) in Terre Haute IN.
I would suggest you send an email detailing (names, dates, locations) your query to: specialcollections(a)vigo.lib.in.us
The above is the email address for the Special Collections Department at VCPL.
The Special Collections Department has one of the best genealogical collections for western Indiana and eastern Illinois available. They have several full time librarians available to answer your query.
The URL listed below is a direct link into the Local History and Archives Section of the Vigo County Public Library. The is a "Log In" Section, BUT IT IS ONLY NEEDED IF YOU USE THE ANCESTRY OR HERITAGE LINKS. Everything else is open to non library members.
http://vigorooms.sirsi.net/rooms/portal/media-type/html/language/en/count...
Look at the "Basic Sources for Genealogical Research".....this is a great listing of books, microfilm, and other sources for individual counties in the Wabash Valley of Indiana and Illinois. There are many other sources to look at on the Special Collections site.
There are additional open databases for Marriages and Obituaries available.
Another place to check for information would be the Wabash Valley Genealogy Society, Inc. website at:
http://www.inwvgs.org/
This website has a members surname listing that may lead you to individuals that are researching your surnames. There are many other helpful search links on this website.
