Here is part of an article that was recently published in the Terre Haute newspaper about the Ehrmann overall factory.
Published: January 12, 2008
Historical Perspective: Terre Haute industry 120 years ago
By Mike McCormick
Special to the Tribune-Star
TERRE HAUTE - At a January 1888 board meeting of the Terre Haute Manufacturers and Businessmen's Association - 120 years ago - mention was made of the early success of Ehrmann Manufacturing Co.
Established in 1887, the local garment manufacturer was established opened Jan. 1, 1888 in a three-story building at 124-126 Wabash Ave. Already it was distributing 350 dozen of its carefully-made trousers labeled "Farmers and Mechanics" to retailers in eight states.
The firm was composed of brothers Charles, Albert and Emil Ehrmann.
Emil, who had experience as the bookkeeper for pioneer Terre Haute garmentmaker Charles Zimmerman, and Albert devoted full attention to the clothing business while Charles also managed Ehrmann Coal Co.
All production was performed by 75 to 100 women working at home.
The Ehrmann boys, including 15-year old student Max, Jr., resided with their parents Max and Barbara (Lutz) Ehrmann at 638 N. Center St. The only Ehrmann girl, Mathilda, known as "Tillie," married Fred Reckert.
Zimmerman, who started the overall manufacturing firm known as Stahl, Urban & Co. at 30 N. Sixth St., and Samuel Frank, situated in a four-story structure at 17 S. Fifth St., were successful local garment makers.
The firm later built the structure now occupied by Glidden Furniture Co.

One of the best places to start looking for ancestors in Vigo County IN is the Special Collections Department of the Vigo County Public Library (VCPL) in Terre Haute IN.
I would suggest you send an email detailing (names, dates, locations) your query to: specialcollections(a)vigo.lib.in.us
The above is the email address for the Special Collections Department at VCPL.
The Special Collections Department has one of the best genealogical collections for western Indiana and eastern Illinois available. They have several full time librarians available to answer your query.
The URL listed below is a direct link into the Local History and Archives Section of the Vigo County Public Library. The is a "Log In" Section, BUT IT IS ONLY NEEDED IF YOU USE THE ANCESTRY OR HERITAGE LINKS. Everything else is open to non library members.
http://vigorooms.sirsi.net/rooms/portal/media-type/html/language/en/count...
Look at the "Basic Sources for Genealogical Research".....this is a great listing of books, microfilm, and other sources for individual counties in the Wabash Valley of Indiana and Illinois. There are many other sources to look at on the Special Collections site.
There are additional open databases for Marriages and Obituaries available.

I am trying to find any info that can lead me to death information on Delila Gibson. She was the widow of John Gibson, born abt May 1827 likely in KY. Married John between 1852-1855 probably in Vigo Co, but I can find no record. She had at least 10 children with John, maybe 12 and she had cared for 4 others that were John's by previous marriages. She was still alive during the 1900 census living in Nevins Twp. Is there anyone out there that can help me figure out when and where this woman died? I have searched every avenue that I can think of.
