I just had this problem on another board and believe I understand the problem. I have used links in posts before, but I had always logged onto Rootsweb.com to do the post. The post I did that was deleted, was via a email reply to the board. It appears that links are ok, if you have logged on rootsweb to complete the post.

Coleen, Just be patient. My Thomas Atkinson's name is about as common as John Scott. Lately, I cannot find any new information on the family at all.
We're also from Vigo Co., Orange Co., Parke Co.

I did find a Mary Galloway in 1920 census she gives her age as 24 making her
birth earlier then 1899. I don't know if this works or not, 1900, there is a
Mary E 4, living with a large Norton family. Father was Frank, 47, born in
ILL. parents in PA, wife was Josephine ?5, born in Ind., parents from VA/
Ohio. In 1910 shes now Mary J. age 14, They live in Terre Haute. Only
Norton family in Vigo with a child named Mary.

Try Illinois particular Edgar County. Many from that area went to Edgar Co.,
to get married. State of Illinois has a great listing of marriages on line.
Researching:
Lankford, Sterling and related families
John Scott married circa 1845-47 unk.
Index of marriages down temporarily
your area. Married possibly Vigo Co IN
area or?
May have married a Native American
lady but that is supposition at this time
as was told to me in two previous
phone conversations between myself and
(2) two cousins.
Daughter Martha Ann born 1848 Terra
Haute Vigo Co IN disappears between
her birth and reapears in 1867 married
to Temple Calhoun Smith Jr with a
daughter born 1867 Boone Co IA.
If someone could check marriage
records at the Vigo Co Court House
this would be helpful to me in finding
Marthas' parents. Thanks so much for
your time and assistance.
I would appreciate any information on the above person. She was born in 1899 in Indiana and married Charles Edward Galloway. They lived all their life in Vigo County. Does anyone know her parents, siblings, etc.
Thank you, Sydney Wheadon
