Hello Matthew. It sounds like you are related to me. My Lennie line used to spell their last name Lenne/Lennes. My Lennes/Lennie line is from France. I do have a Nohe/Noah Lennes (b.abt 1861 in France)that died in Terra Haute, Indiana butI don't have any info on his descendents. You and I could probably help each other out a lot with family info. You may contact me at my email addy which is Chebow1(a)aol.com and I will send you what info I have collected so far. (that's a one after Chebow, not an L)

Not related, just trying to help. In the 1910 census for Vigo county, John A Greenwood has his father Ambrose, aged 70, born in England, living with him. From what I can find, I believe that John A started life as Ambrose also. I found them in Ohio, Summit county in both the 1870 and 1880 census where the father is listed as A Greenwood, mother is Mary J, and the son as Ambrose. In 1900 census the father is still there boarding with a family named Link. John A and Louisa are in Greene county, Indiana where they married. Hope this helps. Don

I am searching for informantion on the anscestry of John A Greenwood of Vigo County Indiana. He was married to Louia (Louisa) M Usrey. Children are M. Fennez (Finnis), Troas A, and Treasa J. Troas married Oral (Al) Talmage Fogleman about 1925. In the 1930 census they were living in Riley, Vigo County, Indiana. John was a coal dealer and Oral a foreman for one of the mines. My Miller family lived in Clark County Illinois from about 1820-1880, with at least one of them moving to Vigo County, Illinois.
John Robert Miller and wife Nancy Ann McCabe (children Henry, Sophia, John Robert, Harriet, Mary and Martin Miller) lived in Vigo County from about 1870 until his death in 1905 and her death in 1901.
I am wondering if maybe some members of my other Miller families may have lived in Clark County but married in Vigo County as I have not found their marriage records in Clark Co., Illinois, or other surrounding Illinois counties.
Does anyone have access to Indiana marriage records for Vigo County who would be willing to check a few of the Miller names for me? Thanks for any response.

I was contacted and told that Jennie was not a student at the college, but was instead a postulant. Jennie entered in 1880. She was given the name of Sister Mary Seraphia, but did not take her vows. She left February 2, 1883.

I looked at this record and it is interesting. If you search a page or two previous to Jennie's record (T9, Roll 318, p. 189D, Line 5), it definitely says "St. Mary's Colliage [sic](p. 188 B)". You see quite a few sisters listed as teachers the profession, etc. listed for Jennie and others looks like it says "Fosterlen." I looked at two pages of these and always came back to that spelling - Fosterlen, some look like Fosterline. I have never seen that term before and can't track it down. It would be interesting to find out what you find out from either St. Mary-of-the-Woods College or the Sisters of Providence on this question.

Some of the census records list St Mary's and is referring to the small village in Sugar Creek township. It is not part of the college. There is also a Catholic parish in the village also named St. Mary's which has a cemetary behind it. My dad and his family lived in St. Mary's village.
