Karen,
In the book "Gallant Fourteenth" there is a picture of a CW reunion early
in the 1900's that has a few women in it as well as men. It was taken on the
Vigo County Court House steps. My family, Conover, are in the picture.
Perhaps you will see some of your line. My family have debated for several
years if the women are other Conovers or Snedekers. They look like others in
our family and the Snedekers and Conovers are intermarried several times in
Vigo County and back in the home state for both families, New Jersey.. Marie

I've "rescued" an old photograph of George ROBINSON which was taken at the
Wrights Studio in Terre Haute, Indiana. The photograph appears to have been
taken in the 1880's with George likely in his 20's at the time. Based on
limited research I believe that this may be a photograph of George ROBINSON
who was the son of Henry & Anna ROBINSON who were living in Terre Haute, IN
during the 1870 census.
Census records for the family are as follows:
1870 census of Terre Haute, IN:
Henry ROBINSON, age 43, born NY
Anna ROBINSON, age 41, born PA, Keeping House
John ROBINSON, age 19, born NY, at Home
Almira ROBINSON, age 13, born IN, at Home
George ROBINSON, age 10, born IN, at Home
Frank ROBINSON, age 8, born IN
Tillie ROBINSON, age 6, born IN
William ROBINSON, age 4, born IN
Charles ROBINSON, age 6 months, born IN
Phebe CENARD, age 43, born OH, a Domestic Servant
In 1900 the family was still living in Terre Haute, IN with census
information as follows:
Henry ROBINSON, age 72, born July 1827, married 41 years, born NY, parents
born NY, a Wholesaler
Anna ROBINSON, wife, age 70, born Aug 1829, married 41 years, 9 children/5
living, born NY, parents born NY
William A. ROBINSON, son, age 32, born Sept 1867, born IN, a Traveling
Salesman
Almira HOLMES, step-dau, age 44, born Apr 1856, born IN, parents born NY
George ROBINSON was also included in the 1900 census of Terre Haute, IN
living not too far from his parents:
George ROBINSON, age 40, born Nov 1859, married 2 years, born IN, parents
born NY/Canada, a Traveling Salesman
Alice ROBINSON, wife, age 36, born June 1863, married 2 years, no children,
born IN, parents born OH/PA
I find George again in the 1920 census still living in Terre Haute, IN with
records providing the following info:
George H. ROBINSON, age 51, married 12 years, born IN, parents born NY/PA, a
Brewery Secretary
Alice ROBINSON, wife, age 48, married 12 years, no children, born IN,
parents born OH
Margarite ROBERTS, niece, age 17, born IL, parents born KY/IN
Then in 1920 Alice is living in Terre Haute, IN without George, records are
as follows:
Alice ROBINSON, age 53, a widow, born IN, parents born OH/PA
I'm hoping to locate someone from his family so that this wonderful old
photograph can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this
family, or know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley

I have Smock's in Sullivan Co., IN, moving there from KY (most likely Nelson Co.). They were in Sullivan Co. earlier than 1839. Don't know if there is a connection.
