I last find Mary Bowler (b. 1805 Kerry, Ireland) in Terre Haute in 1870. She married 3 times in Ireland before immigrating in 1854. First to a LYNCH (had Pat, Dan and Courtney), second to a Patrick CASEY (had Johanna and Mary) and finally to a Pat SHEA (had Hannora and Flournoy). Is there an online cemetary search for Terre Haute? There is also a possibility she is in Marion County, but I thought to start here.
Coleen, would you please email me your email address, and some information
on what you are seeking. I live in Vigo County and am interested in the
Scott's in this area around the same time period. My email is

The Vigo County Public Library has experienced some technical problems since
trying to switch over to a SIRSI Rooms hosted website Nov. 1st. Therefore,
some functions have been restored, but not all, and web addresses have
changed, until the new web site can be fully functional. Here are some
instructions for right now:
First, do not use any links or shortcuts to the library that you have
previously saved because some of those links are obsolete and you will wind
up with "Page cannot be displayed" or some sort of error message..
Go to www.vigo.lib.in.us - type this in your address bar (do not go to any
archived "favorites" page that you have - instead of the old web page the
library catalog page now comes up)
In the upper right hand corner of the catalog page, you will see "Special
Collections"
Click on "Special Collections" and you will see a page with a picture of the
courthouse, with green buttons on the left. The marriage records and the
obituary databases can be accessed from there.
At the bottom of those links is another link back to the Special Collections
Dept. It takes you to a page with the DAR in the picture. On that page
with the DAR picture several of those links no longer work, so avoid that
page in favor of the one picturing the courthouse unless something that you
need on it does work.
Also, go to your browser window menu bar, choose Tools, Internet Options,
then click on "Delete Cookies" hit "OK", click on "Delete Files (Temporary
Internet Files) click "OK", then click on "Clear History" and "yes" and
"OK". If you have done all of this you should be able to access most of the
material. The online history books do not seem to be accessible at the
moment, but the marriages and obits databases can be used - I have been in
and out of them all week.
Good luck!

Would like to know what churches or
denominations were in this area around
the time that my Martha Ann Scott was
born Feb 1847/48.
Maybe that will yield to me the clue
that I need to find who my Martha Ann
Scott was and who her parents may have
been or any siblings she may have had.
Thanks so much for your help with
this question.
Phyllis,

Dave,
In addition to what you posted, I can tell you that Mary A. Tribby was born in 1846 in Kentucky, daughter of George T. and Nancy Tribby. Samuel and Mary had two sons: James Everett (1876-1912) and Frank L. (1882-1901). By his second wife, Samuel had a third son, Dayton Albert (1885-1955).

I don't have the death date of Dr. Samuel O. Burris, but do have some information from earlier in his life.
He married Mary A. Tribby in Montgomery Co., Indiana, on 18 Aug 1873, and they and their son, James Everett Burris (b. 18 Nov 1876), are listed in the 1880 census of Coal Creek Twp., Montgomery Co., Indiana. Mary A. Tribby died in 1882 and is buried with her parents in the New Richmond, Indiana, cemetery.
I would certainly be interested in further information about Dr. Samuel O. Burris.

Which Bennett family is Charles from? Do you know his parents names by any
chance?

I believe that Mrs. Bennett is Hannah Watkins. Charles and Hannah had three
children in 1900 census. The children were listed as Charles T., Mary E.,
and James E. Bennett. I also believe Hannah's father was Thomas W. Watkins
listed in an obituary with him dying in Chicago, but was brought back to
Vigo to be buired March of 1894. Can anyone help me? Sheri

I see that you might have your answer. But yes, there are two Mewhinney Cemeteries. If you use Google Earth, one is here on both sides of the raod (I was at this one just last week)...N39° 25.592 W87° 14.933 , between Riley & Staunton.
There's another Mewhinney located at N39° 29.270 W87° 17.740, in Seelyville.
I am wondering if that was the home of
an Aunt & Uncle or perhaps grandparents?
Perhaps her father and mother took sick
and she is with family? Hmmmm?
Do you think you could send the item
either JPeg or plain text. Will welcome
any and all information at this time. Txs
No as I have copy of Death Record tells
her father John born IN? PA? KY? not
for sure, whoever made out the certificate
of death did not know exactly, was one
of her daughters in law that she was living
with at the time of her death in Laramie
Co WY in 1930.
It maybe time to look elseware! Just because a death cert. says the
name and place is ???? isn't always so. In that day and age alot of
people didn't remember when or where they were born so you have to dig
harder and farther.
Not that this is whom you're looking for, but the age is "almost" right.

There is an ancestral file at the LDS site for Temple Smith and Martha
Scott. It says she died in Laramie, Wyoming in 1930. You could send for her death
record. The parents should be listed on it. His parents are listed and all
their children.
