The old High School was torn down many years ago. A Middle School has been
built on the site where the old Print Shop was located. The area where the
school building stood is empty except for trees and grass.

I have sent 28 pages of copies of portraits from an antique family photograph album to the Vigo County Library. The album came from our Mann family line, one of the babies is supposed to be my grandfather, Kenneth B. Mann-we just don't know which one! One of the little girls has the name Mann written on the back of her picture (noted). If you recognize any of these people, please contact me!!
Thanks,
Debby

Message Board Post:
I have been researching the name Acord and wondered if your Akers family may have been a branch from our tree. We started out as Eckert, and along the way moved thru a lot of different spellings including Eker, Achord, Echard & Achor, just to name a few.
My John Acord was living with his daughter Orpha Acord Prose, in Haddon, Sullivan, IN in 1900. In 1910, John had apparently passed away, but Orpha and her family were then in Terre Haute, Vigo, IN. Orpha lived with her daughter Ella & son-in-law, George Bowman. She was still with them in 1920, and died in 1926 in Terre Haute.
She was the widow of Charles Prose and had 7 sons and 2 daughters, all living in Vigo County. Her other daughter was Rheatha (sometimes seen as Bertha) Prose Koll (Charles). Charles Emory Prose married Mary C. Roth in 1908. I don't know the other wives of the Prose boys.
If any of this info sounds familiar, I would love to exchange info. The John Acord I mention above was born in 1825 in Muskingum County, Ohio to John Acord/Eckert & Margaret Atwood.
Orpha Acord Prose was born in Ross County, Ohio, as were all her children. Her husband Charles Prose was the son of Daniel Prose and Mary (Polly) Waddell, and was born in Ohio, possibly Ross or Gallia County, where his parents were born. Thank you, Elaine Tipton (tipton_e(a)msn.com)
