am working on an Isaac Anderson b. 1801 in Tennesse who lived in Indiana for a while. He then went to Ill. and then Missouri. He had 2 son's for sure 1. James and 2 . Isaac. He may have had a bro. named Thomas who also was born in Tennesse and is said to be the oldest son of James Anderson and Isaac's war records state his father was James Anderson. no mention of a mother on either of these boys. Does any of this sound good to you. Oh yes James is supposed to have volenteered in the Blackhawk wars and was an excelent fighting man. This is acording to the Biogrophy of his Grandson William Anderson in the Macoupin Co. Ill History. Any input would be greatfully gone over. Judy Gore Lent

My gggrandmother was Catherine Combs, daughter of John Combs and Lucinda Pound. I have the marriage record, and the record of John's death in 1850, also the 1840 census for John and the 1850 census for Lucinda. I did notice that in the 1830 Vigo County census, the only Pound and Combs families with teenagers of the right sex and age for Lucinda and John are living next door to each other. The families are Thomas Pound and Elizabeth Combs. I haven't been able to verify that those are the parent families. My gggrandmother Catherine Combs was born Dec 25, 1839 in Indiana. She married James H. Sills on July 28, 1855 in Vigo County. Their first son, Frances Marion Sills, my ggrandfather, was born on April 10, 1857 in Sullivan County, Indiana. The other surviving children were Mary L. Sills (1861 in Indiana), Charles Benjamin Sills (July 1868 in Illinois), and William O. Sills (Nov 1874 in Illinois). There was one unknown deceased infant.
Frances Marion married Hester Welch in Illinois, and they moved to Kansas and then near Hennesey, Oklahoma. Frank's oldest son was Douglas Otis Sills, my grandfather.
If anyone has any information about Lucinda Pounds and John Combs, or the rest of the family, I would love to hear from them.
It was my understanding when I asked that someone at the Methodist
church next to the cemetery had the records.

Samuel Hull who donated the 1st 4 acres for the Hull cemetery was a brother to my 4th g grandmother, Massie Hull. Massie Hull was married to John Rardin Jr. and their daughter Mary "Polly" Rardin was married to John Campbell. John and Mary Rardin Campbell were the parents of my 2nd g grandmother who married William McComb 10 June 1819 in Vigo co. William McComb died 25 Jan 1850 and is buried in the Hull cemetery as is 2 of his sons and a grandson. If anyone has info on any of these families (especially John Campbell) I would be much indebted.

Flinn Robert M W 67 Feb 21 1882 Terre Haute H-32 161
I found this death on Rorbert Flinn. your best bet is to go to the Vigo County Library Site, which is online, and look for Mary's death notice, and order Robert's. That should really help you.
Lynne
By looking at the LDS site, www.familysearch.org
I saw two possible young women, both in their early twenties. I told it to
look for the 1880 census, in Indiana, Vigo County, Terre Haute, and it did a
Soundex apparently. I presumed that she was a young woman, so that ruled
out all matches but two. As I recall, both born in Ireland. One was a
servant in a household, the other was living with her parents. I believe
they were both spelled O'Connel. Take a look at those for possibilities to
follow up on. At least you might be able to rule them out, or keep them on
file for further consideration.

Hi Beau,
Have you checked IL State's database -
http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/databases.html.
I did a quick Global Search (click next to the spinning globe, then scroll
down and type in Fagg, ) on Fagg and the following "hits" popped up in the
following databases:
Database of Illinois Civil War Veterans
Database of 1929 Illinois Roll of Honor
Illinois Statewide Death Index (Pre-1916)
Illinois Statewide Death Index (1916-1950)
Illinois Statewide Marriage Index (1763-1900)
Public Domain Land Tract Sales Database
Shelby County Circuit Court Case Files Index (1828-1871)
You can then go into each database for more detailed information.
Good luck,
Gail

Lori,
Do you know when and where Mary died? If the information was known at the time of her death, the parents would be listed.
Do you know how old she was? The 1880 census, which is free at ancestry.com has 4 Mary O'Connells; the first is a widow, age 45 but she has a daughter, Katy, who is 25; Mary Katherine was a good Irish name (Mary Kate); that could be your Mary.
The second is another widow, 43; her only daughter, Maggie is 12; too young.
The third is also too young; she was b. in 1873.
And the 4th is in Clay County, but married and her married name is O'Connell.
The only Robert Flinns in Vigo County are father and son;
the son is 29; making him a good age to marry Katy, above.
Just a few ideas for you. You can look at the 1880 census here:

Please feel free to email me direct at rzgrdn(a)gmail.com if you think I can be of further help.

There are no parents listed in the WPA index for this marriage. That type of information was not required until 1882; even then, the requirement was not widely complied with until the late 1880s and early 1900s.
