Can't say much more than it is a black and white photo.
Where did your grandfather live? Do you have a picture that I can compare this one to? Want to make sure we are talking about the same Burt Nees. Thanks

Hi,
As you can see below I have my brother's Obituary. According to his Obit and Death Certificate he was married to one, Penny Sue Shoemaker, thier son's name was Blue.
It took me many years to find out this much. I always had a feeling about his demise. If anyone knows of his widow and/or his son I sure would like to be in touch with them.
Thank you in advance.

Hello,
I've been working on my step father's line and I've run into a stubborn
brick wall. The individual in question is Thornton LANE. Born 1873, my
information from my stepfather is that he died by the time he was 5, which
would have been around 1934.
What I have found:
1930 Census shows him with wife Bessie (Gemmaka), and son Robert M. age 56,
occupation: Labor. in Fayette, Vigo, IN
1920 Census shows him with wife Bessie, stepdaughter Ester (no last name for
ester listed) Living next door to Bessie's parents (John GEMMAKA), age 45,
occupation: Carpenter, living in Harrison, Vigo, IN
I also found his WWI draft registration card which listed his birth date.
Him and Bessie both had to have been married before due to the ages of first
marriages on the 1930 census.
I cannot find anything so far on his death. His name was spelled
differently on both census that I have found. Have been through the Vigo
County Marriages on the Vigo County Library website, the Wabash County
Obits. I believe that Bessie was first married to a WRIGHT. Her daughter
Ester M finally married a DUGGER and moved to IL. They died together in a
car crash in 1972, I think in the Peoria area.
Does anybody have any connection to any of these names here? I'm stumped.
Anna
Hello Listers,
I've recently come into possession of pictures that might have meaning
to someone of the lineage. These are of folks in the Vigo County, Terre
Haute, and Burnett, Indiana, area. One is of Lisa and Daniel Jones.
Everyone in Burnett called them Mammy and Pappy Jones. Mrs. Jones was a
midwife in Burnett. These photos were, most probably, taken around the
turn of the century.
I have three pictures of the Johns also taken in Burnett, Indiana, area.
Two are of Katie John Christensen. Katie was a great aunt to the
pro-baseballer Tommy John. The other is of Hettie John Giles...Katie's
sister.
These folks were Welsh...also my ancestry. My grandmother and
great-aunt Margaret were friends of these people for many years.
Please, let me know if anyone is related. If so, I'll send them to you.
Regards, Elaine.

Hi David and Mary: I too come from Lewis and Nancy Ellen (Johnson) Shull, in fact one of my direct ancestors, Anderson Harrison McClure....and 2 of his brothers all married Shull girls, Clarissa, Rebecca and Lavonia, I only show one Soloman. he being the son of Phillip and Lydia.....but (on the other hand) I don't have anything that says he couldn't have been orphaned the day he died either. Good luck to you. If you find out he WAS orphaned, I'd sure like to know...mac
There is a little town across the river in Illinois named Darwin. There used
to be a Darwin Ferry that moved tractors and other vehicle across the river
between IN and IL.

Hi to all-
On a somewhat related topic....does anyone know how/why/for who Darwin Road
was named?
Thanks,
