Hi Randy:
I saw your message posted on the McGranahan family in
Parke County. I'm trying to do "long distance" research
from Denver on the McGranahan family of Nevins Twp.
Perhaps you might have some information on this family.
John McGranahan born 1837; married Louisa Amanda Winn
on Feb. 4, 1868 in Clay County, IN. I am trying to determine
the parents of this John McGranahan. I have found a John
McGranahan that was born Feb. 1807 in PA and died Sept.
1890 in Vigo Co., IN. The problem I have...is two different
spouses for John McGranahan: one named Elizabeth Nevins
and one named McKee. I'm not sure if it is the same man
or if I have two of the same name and age mixed up! Any
help or input would be greatly appreciated.

Ken,
Just saw your posting about Philip Frakes, Jr. My line goes thru his brother Daniel. I've found some interesting early data about Philip Sr. and Philip Jr. lately and am wondering if you have found same. Contact me.
Kathleen, is this Martha Jane Hamilton who married Samuel Jackson Adams? The
only connection I have between them and Rukes is that Samuel's cousin Mary
Jane Adams married William Rukes.
If this is your Hamilton, did Martha have a brother Eben, who was living
with them at the time of the 1880 census?

Claudia, this is very interesting. Barbara SMITH was born in Hesse-Darmstadt
(according to census info) and her parents Alfred Smith (possibly Schmidt I
wonder?) and Mary Owenslager also were from Germany. Unfortunately, other than
their names on Barbara's death certificate, I have yet to locate Alfred and/or
Mary on any census or other legal document. I know that Barbara lived in both
Marshall, IL and Terre Haute, IN at various times in her life. I wonder if
my Mary could be related to your family. I know Barbara was supposedly born
about 1842 in Hesse-Darmstadt and married Benjamin KNOWLTON in Clark Co., IL in
1858. This certainly gives me something to think about and look into!

I am still having problems with Johnson Hasten. It appears he didn't want to
be found. I am wondering if he isn't using a middle name on documents for
perhaps just "John".
