I am trying to locate anyone who may be a descendant of Marion D. Stanton (born 17 August 1839 Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana, died 11 February 1906 Logan, Phillips County, Kansas) that can tell me what the D. stands for. I am also interested in who his father was. The family moved from Terre Haute, ID before 1841 to Mercer County, IL. Marion had a sister named Sarah Jane and a brother named Michael Mortimer. It is believed that their mother was Mary A. Hoover. But finding that elusive marriage record and a father's name has been a challenge. Any help or leads would be appreciated.
Thank You!

Ruth,
Do you have more information on William CLUGSTON and his wife Margaret PIERCY? How do you know they came from Ballylinny, Ireland originally? I am connected from their son, Charles E and wife Lucy through their son Hugh Edward. Thanks for any help you can give me. I have them in the 1880 census and then forward to the present (with many gaps) but know nothing about their Irish Origins except I believed they were from Northern Ireland (from Censuses).
Thank You.

Debby,
Mary Black's parents appear to be Samuel and Charlotte (Brooks) Black. They were married March 12, 1846 in Vigo County; Bk C-B, Pg 101.
The 1880 census referred to in the previous post is very hard to read; at least my images are. The transcribed version by the LDS church does say Patsy was 75, but the image indicates it could also be 15. Based on that, I checked the 1860 and 1870 censuses and found:
