Judy in Terre Haute
The Chet Burrell family was neighbors of my folks in the 1948/49/50 time
frame. I know they had a son named Bill and a daughter Vanessa. Bill is
deceased I know. My brother may be familiar with some of that family. There
should be some of the kids still around Terre Haute. I will see him in May
and I will see if someone in the family has a computer.

I checked my Indiana Marriage Index for the marriages you mentioned and none are in it. I used several spellings for Burrell and used the brides' surnames. I also checked the 1880 census for Indiana and there is no Edgar Burrell or Cora Cheeseman (also checked Chessman). It's an all name index so would have them listed as children.

Donna, you're not going to find their parents on the marriage records because that information wasn't required in the 1870s. Your best bet for Patrick Haggerty will be his death certificate; providing the informant knew who his parents were. Do you know when she died? I know she was still alive in 1880; she was on the census with Patrick and the children. There's also a Sarah Haggerty in the 1890 and 1892 City Directories. Her death certificate, if you know the date, might also provide her parents names. Unfortunately, Mary (Hayes) died to early for that.

The WPA marriage index shows the marriage of Patrick Haggerty to Mary Hayes on 9-5-1870 in Knox County (book G--, page 512).
The WPA birth index shows the birth of William J. Haggerty to Patrick Haggerty and Agnes Holland on 12-15-1916 in Vigo County (book CH-28, page 104). Given the year, the father might be Patrick Jr.
The WPA death index lists the death of Patrick W. Haggerty, age 74, on 9-22-1907 in Vigo County (book CH-49, page 14).

Thanks again Sharon!! I was guessing Vigo because they lived in Terre Haute as I knew. I will have to see where Knox County starts--That may very well be where HER family was from (since Alice Hayes on previous note connected to Wm Brett was also Knox. Patrick(35) actually was in the 1870 census in the 2nd Ward of Terre Haute, and at that time he was head of house but living with his mother Sarah(65), and probably siblings John (28), Bridget (34), & Ann (22). Thank you again!!---Donna

There was a family headed by Patrick Reagan living over in the St. Mary of the Woods area. His line is not mine. I haven't worked with those families in years, but I think he was an Irish Immigrant. Mine were Quakers out of Ohio and SC.

According to my Indiana Marriage Index, the Patrick Haggerty who married what appears to be Mary Hayes, did so in Knox County; not Vigo:
Patrick Haggerty md M. Hayes Sept 5, 1870 Knox Cnty
Bk G---, Pg 512.
Patrick is found in Terre Haute in the 1880 census with the three children; he was not in the 1870 census in Vigo County.
