P.J. Ryan also operated a Funeral Home. I think it was on So. 7th Street. Wabash Ave, also called Main Street, runs east and west, so I am not sure where the old Livery Stable would have been built.

I have a book, "Terre Haute, Wabash River City", by Dorothy L Clark, 1983. On page 28 is a picture of the P.J. RYAN Livery Stable. The acompanying copy says it was located on the west side of Main Street. The photo is courtesy of the Vigo County Historical Society.
On page 37, a single paragraph says "On a more sober note, on October 16, 1884, the city's only winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor, Civil War veteran Patrick RYAN, died at the age of 72 years.

Thanks for the quick reply! Sorry to hear that the James Franklin Yeager family is not listed, however the info you did relay will likely prove valuable when I get to that family group! Happy Holidays!

Freida Stickson
Was she a Stickson, then a Payne, then a Moody?
I don't remember her as I was 3 or 4 when she died.
I've got pictures of her from my older sister
Iam a Moody There were 11 of us.
I remember she had a son Edward Payne.
Would love to hear more.

I sent you a copy of her obit earlier this month. It may appear unreadable
on the screen but if you print it out you can read it. Would you like me to
resend it?

Freida Moody was my grandmother. She died Dec 13, 1938. She had 12 children when she died. Alice (my mother) was the second youngest. She told me that Louis (Freida's husband) could only take care of the four oldest children. All the other children were sent to an orphanage in Ohio. My mother stayed there until she was 16 and her sister, Ernestine, became her legal guardian. Please email me and tell me about Freida's father, and I will share other info.
Judy: Since I'm a subscriber to the Vigo list, I've seen so many lookups
that you are doing for others. Just what kind of lookups do you do? I did
see that you worked at the library.

BURGANS--they are buried in Woodlawn Cemetery. I couldn't copy the list
because the copy card machine wasn't working, but I wrote them down and will
e-mail them privately, unless someone else wants the info too.
RHYANS--I checked cemeteries, probate and obits--not found.
REED--I will e-mail the transcription. I checked probate for Hugh and obits
as well--not there.
DAWSON--I found that Sicha Dawson d a 78 7-5-1854 and is buried in Woodlawn
Cemetery. It says she's the wife of Isaac.
ROESCH--no luck. I found some more records but they were not there.
WILSON--I found the final estate settlements for both Caleb and Reason
Wilson. In each case, the widow was the executrix and there were no other
heirs named in the proceedings. For Caleb it was Miranda and for Reason it
was Mary J--although nothing in the document refers to them as widows--that
was my assumption--they might have been some other relative.

The Indiana WPA Marriage Index lists the marriage of William Coleman to Crosa Beatty on Feb. 8, 1885 in Sullivan County, book 8 page 172.
The Vigo County Library site at http://165.138.44.12 lists an obit for a Mrs. William Coleman, age 71 (which would be about right) in the Tribune on Sept. 30, 1934, page 2.

Dear Judy-Thank you for looking these items up for me. Julia that married
Charles Williams was actually the daughter of Julia and Daniel Farley. The
elder "Julia" was listed in the 1920 census I have searched these record high
and low and can't find her after that. Maybe she moved! Plus the census
listed her as divorced. Can't figure that one out. Julia married in Clay
Co-the daughter- that's how I know it isn't her mother. Also, the census
listed her as being born in Ireland, while her daughter was born here. Hope
I can figure this out sometime. As far as I can tell, the 83 year old Julia
Williams may have been Charles's mother.
My Farley's didn't move to Indiana until 1867 according to the
naturalization petition I found in Clay County. There were other Farley's in
Vigo County-unrelated to my ancestors as far as I can tell. My Julia and
Daniel married in Durham County England, had 2 children there, Katherine
Farley Roberts, and Rosa, and then my great grandfather Laurence was born in
Carbon in 1870, as were the rest of their 8-9 children including Daniel,
Julia, James, John, Laurence, Maggie, Ann, and Mary. Thank you for checking
for me. I know James was killed in a mining accident and his body shipped
somewhere in Ohio, Maybe the family moved there!
Again, thank you for looking. It is really confusing. STharp
