Lyne,
Don't know which Sharon you mean, but I should have 1910 any day now. I have
some of the images for Terre Haute, but no index. I do have 1920 for the
whole county, but again, no index and can't find one!!!
If 1910 doesn't come today should be here Monday.

Dear Mike ~
Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to do all those lookups for

Carol,
I have the Family Quest Indiana Vital Records which includes Birth, Death,
and Marriages for Indiana. Family Quest extracted the information from the
WPA records. I just do lookups when I think I can help someone. I'm
awaiting some more census records that I ordered and when they arrive, I will
update my lookup sources on the INVigo web page.

Sorry to take so long to respond, others things sometimes take priority :)
Here is some misc. Payne information from Ferguson, Paddock and Kester
histories I have.
Athol Ferguson (1781-ca.1848)(son of Samuel and Elizabeth Anderson Ferguson)
married 2.) Rebecca (Paddock) Payne(1790-after 1850). Rebecca was the
daughter of Ebenezer SR. and Keziah Case. Rebecca married first an Elijah
Payne, 9/7/1806 in Preble Co. Oh.(Source: R.O. Craig, "Butler Co. Oh. Mar.
Rec.) Also there is a deed 1818(don't have and don't know what this
contains) Unfortunately, I don't know when the were married. Oops! I found
a marriage reference: 4-8-1827 Sullivan Co.In.. She, Rebecca stated in
Pension Application, that they were married in Sullivan Co. One Vigo Co.
Hist.
states they had the following children Nancy, Mary, Levina, Julia Ann,
Leitha, and William. My records indicate that William P. was born 1802-1804.
and next oldest Leatha was b. 1806, and next Nancy b. 1808. So somewhere
information not correct. There was a Squire Payne, a son of Rebecca's first
marriage who Athol adopted.
Other misc. Payne information that might direct you to your anwsers.
Sarah Ferguson (daughter of Athol and ? Rebecca) married a Samuel Payne
1/15/1835 Vigo Co. In.. Sarah was born 1814 in Greene Co. Oh. This all
comes from Ferguson History.
Might want to check for Adoption records in Vigo and Sullivan Co.. Wills
inPreble, Green, and Butler Co. Oh. for Elijah Payne and/or estates.
Hopefully not Sullivan Co. In. since records are scarce, court house burned?
Ages seem about right for your Nancy Payne.
Mike
Am trying to locate information on a Mrs. Anna Hanna who lived in Terre Haute. That reference comes from an obituary of one of her siblings. The time frame is 1935-1940. I know her by her given name of Susan (taken from a census record) which could have been short for Susannah. Her maiden name was Strahle.
I know I have been vague about the time frame, but the obituary was misplaced on a trip this past weekend and I cannot be more specific.
Bill Strahle
Thank you so much for the prompt reply. We have been looking for this family
off and on for 20 years.
Thank you again.

A possible marriage for William would be:

Assuming the census and the index were transcribed correctly, the latter one

Nevins's are in Nevins township, Vigo County and I knew Dovie. She did
however die at the home of her brother LeRoy in Rosedale, In. There are

I do have a map up on the Vigo site that shows townships. It's not great,
but it's all I could find. If anyone knows where I can get a better one,
I'd be happy to put it up!
If you go to the Vigo Site (http://www.rootsweb.com/~invigo/vigo.htm),
you'll see a Maps section in the first table. The links for North of I-70
and South of I-70 show townships. Just not the borders. You can get a
general idea of where the townships are. The sites are:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~invigo/twpmap.htm
and
http://www.rootsweb.com/~invigo/twpmap2.htm
Pam Yates
I have been away but I am sure by now that you have been corrected.
Harrison twp. is in Vigo County as are several other twps.
