Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Sorry, I missed my note on this one.
Thanks again for the help.

Dick,
>From the pages and column numbers indicated below, here are the
quotes:
PAGE 72, Column 1
"James Haynes had married Martha Bennett two years previously and can
hardly have been the father of three children and a widower by this
time so we must include this among the curious features of the census
which includes so many motherless families."
PAGE 73, Column 1
"William Haines [? difficult to read on our copy, could be "Hannes",
definitely begins with the letter H] who is next on the list, had a
small boy and three males over 10 with him and next door lived William
P. Bennett with a small boy and his wife, Eliza, while the next house
held her brother, Charles Baynes, with his wife and small boy."
[Definitely a "Baynes" here, but could be a typo from "Haynes".
Points out that somebody really needs to find the original or at least
a better copy of the original census.]

under 10 with two boys older, leaving us to wonder whether the girl
was Catharine, who married Preston Hussey or Maria, who married John

probable that the girl here listed was she who later became his wife."

Jodie,
>From the page and column requested, the two paragraphs below are
shared. Note that although Markle here does not differentiate between
males and females and between ages, the original probably DID have
this information. That's another reason to find the original and make
it available on a web site!! I would assume that the number given
includes all in the household, including the name listed, but I may be
mistaken here. Also, just because there is a very large number of
persons listed, I don't think we can assume that all are members of
the family; Markle does mention several times about many families
apparently having borders.
"Russell Ross with 11, William Musset with four, Mrs. Crimm with five
and Ephraim Ross with 11 are followed by Joseph Miller with seven.
The latter lived to be 83 when he died in 1879.
"Mr. Richards is given with four, J.R. Edmonston with eight, Joseph
McConnell had two, John Pointer four, William Miller three, James
McGarvey four and Jefferson Lovelace two."

Jodie,
>From the page and column listed, we see the following paragraph:
"Mrs. Thompson had two boys and a girl. Samuel McIntire had a boy
with him and Stephen Havens had two, while John BROWN had a small boy
and possibly an older one with him and none of the three had any women
with them."
Unfortunately, as you can see with the Tompson report, Markle did not
always list whether the children were under ten or over ten years of
age. I would hypothesize, however, that if the ages are not listed,
then the "children" are under ten.
