Janice,
I can't be certain about your
George Felker, although I would
bet he was from the same Felker
family as I am. These Felkers
were living in Lincoln Co., North
Carolina by 1790, they were of
German Heritage and I believe were
in Pa before moving to NC. Some
researchers think the name may
have been spelled a little differently, beginning with a V, when this families Ancestors
immigrated to America from Germany, sometime in the 1700s.
The Western Ky branch came to Ky
around 1830 from Middle TN.,
one of the Counties near Nashville,
Davidson County.
Michael Felker of Lincoln Co.,NC
married Magdelena Earhart around
1790 and they had a few children
and Michael died, Madelena moved
to Rutherford Co. TN with her
parents, children and siblings
and their families. Michael died
before or shortly after the move.
The family lived also in Davidson
County and Jacob Michael and
Magdelenas only son, married
there to Sarah Jackson abt 1817.
The couple had several children
and they moved to Crittenden Co.
Ky abt 1831, if my memory is correct, Crittenden had not been
formed yet and they lived in
Caldwell. Your George probably
descends from one of the children
of Jacob and Sarah Jackson Felker. I descend from there oldest daughter Lydia
"Mary" Felker, who
married William Guess abt 1842.
Jacob and Sarah Felker both died
while many of their children were
still young. The children moved
in with relatives or worked for
families. Evansville, Indiana
is not far at all from the area
the family lived in and several
of my own relatives moved there
too, probably for work.
I am fairly certain Jacob was the
only son in his family and the
only Felker to move to Western Ky. There are Felkers in Western
Ky and also I think part of this
family may have setteled in So.
Illinois, Johnson County.
You might be able to see if Jacob
and Sarah Felker had a son named
George, or George could be a Grandson, try a google search, the
Felker genealogy is somewhere on
the www. I don't know of the
McNeelys.
Sandy
