Hi, I am not a direct Relleke descendant. My Grandmother was from Gibson County which
connects me to most of the ethnic Westside German families. My Grandfather was Ethnic
German from the East side of Evansville. Some of my lines are Meyer, Ruhoff, Wenning,
Loeders, Elpers, Macke, Drexler, Nei(n)haus. All of these Catholic ethnic German families
intermarried, so we all have common relatives.
From this document I found:
Karen A. Schoenbachler, Marriages of The German Congregation of Evansville, Holy Trinity
Catholic Church, for Willard Library, 1985, 7.
45. Bitter, Eberhard..........................Dena Relleki
Married:2/6/1850..........................................60
Son of: John Bitter & Elizabeth Kordesh
Daughter of: Anthony Relleki & Margaret Rinsche
Witnesses: Bernard Enneking & Henry Ahlering
I don't know the correct spelling for Margaret but this is likely the same woman in
this record:
Rev. Roman Weinzapfel, Marriage Records of Rural Evansville, Indiana (Catholic
Congregation) 1844 - 1857, 23.
114: Releke, Francis ............ Barbara Kuhn
Married: 1857 By Rev. Pepersack
Son of: Francis Anthony Releke & Margaret Rinseke
Daughter of: Wendel Kuhn & Margaret Schaeffer
Witteness: William Anthony ploohg & Francis Releke
If you are close to Evansville, the Willard Library has both of these references. They
also have microfiche of the actual documents, so you could verify the spellings. I made my
own copies when I was home last summer.
Mike
