I appreciate all this help, but two of us have searched all databases on
ancestry and famiysearch and elsewhere.
We do know every thing about him after he left the Evansville area. At
that time there was a migration of young workers through oil fields of
Oklahoma and in 1923 he marries in north Texas. We have concentrated on
finding his WWI draft registration but no luck.
After he marries we have a very solid documented picture of his life
until his death in TX in 1973.
But nowhere in any of these documents is his parents, which we need to
trace back to where he connects with our families. A number of us have
DNA matches with his grandson so we are confident we connect, but just
where is the question.
He was white and there is a black Willie Lee Johnson in Southern IN and
KY and some other possibles but we have eliminated them as we have a
solid picture of him after 1923.
I will try to contact Evansville Health Dept and see if they can help.
