What about social security paperwork? Marriage application?
Certificate of death? Although many cases they have "forgotten"
information of parents by that time - so it seems too many times.
What was his wife's name? Don't think I have seen that mentioned.

I appreciate all this help, but two of us have searched all databases
on
ancestry and famiysearch and elsewhere.
We do know every thing about him after he left the Evansville area. At that
time there was a migration of young workers through oil fields of Oklahoma
and in 1923 he marries in north Texas. We have concentrated on finding his
WWI draft registration but no luck.
After he marries we have a very solid documented picture of his life until
his death in TX in 1973.
But nowhere in any of these documents is his parents, which we need to trace
back to where he connects with our families. A number of us have DNA
matches with his grandson so we are confident we connect, but just where is
the question.
He was white and there is a black Willie Lee Johnson in Southern IN and KY
and some other possibles but we have eliminated them as we have a solid
picture of him after 1923.
I will try to contact Evansville Health Dept and see if they can help.
Thanks for all your effort.
