I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as that of Amy KOONCE which was
taken at the Geo R. Warren Studio in Grayville, Illinois. The photograph
appears to have been taken in the 1890s' with Amy just an infant at the
time. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following
information regarding Amy and her family as follows:
Amy Blanch HAMMELL b. 1893 was the wife of Elbert KOONCE b. 2 Jan 1887 in
Illinois to parents Andrew Jackson KOONCE (1859-1946) and Margaret Adaline
CASBIER (1862-1945). Amy and Elbert had three children including, Elbert E.
"Gene" KOONCE b. 1926 and d. 2012; Zetta or Zeta Amy b. 1912, d. 1985; and
Wilma Grace KOONCE b. 1924 and died 1925. Amy's husband Elbert died in
Chicago, IL on 7 Mar 1945 and Amy died in 1957.
Census records provide the following information:
1920 census of Albion, IL:
Elbert KOONCE, age 33, born IL
Amy KOONCE, wife, age 27, born IL
Zeta KOONCE, dau, age 7, born IL
Zola KOONCE, dau, age 5, born IL
1930 census of Evansville, IN:
Elbert KOONCE, age 43, born IL
Amy B. KOONCE, wife, age 36, born IL
Zetta A. KOONCE, dau, age 18, born IL
Zola M. KOONCE, dau, age 15, born IL
Elbert E. KOONCE, son, age 3, born IN
I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be
returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this KOONCE Family,
or you know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
