EDEN, NC - Gerald R. Wallace, 73, of 6007 Elderbush Drive, Greensboro, passed away Monday
afternoon, June 29, 2009 at Beacon Place in Greensboro.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, at Lebanon Baptist Church
with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Wallace was born March 16, 1936 in Evansville, IN, son of the late Jesse L. and Mary
Owen Wallace.
He was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church and a US Army veteran. Mr. Wallace was a retired
Fire Marshall and held the distinction as the first Fire Marshall to be employed by
Rockingham County.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Kenneth
Wallace; and sister, Maxine.
Surviving are his wife, Patsy Cochran Wallace of the home; son, Bryan Wallace and wife,
Kim of Stoneville; daughter, Rebecca Taylor and husband, Bill of Colonial Beach, VA; five
grandchildren, Nina Bagby, Shannon Staples, Phillip Dent, Jr., Jeremy Wallace, and Josh
Wallace; five great-grandchildren, James, Josh and Joseph Staples, Hunter Bagby, and
Gracie Dent; and sister, Jean Gill of Madisonville, KY.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 7 - 9 p.m. at Fair Funeral Home and
other times at the residence on Elderbush Drive in Greensboro.
