Thank you to all who replied to my inquiry and supplied suggestions.
I contacted the Library yesterday, and although they were open, did
not receive an acknowledgement. Hopefully, a response will be
forthcoming.
I did not find the Hickman Courier lead when I did my original Google
but have located the paper and now have a copy. Seems to be a good
source site for Kentucky papers.
The info about Louisville is interesting as my data says he was in
South Carolina in his later years.
I found the Bandwagon magazine data earlier and sent a message
yesterday but, based on their membership fees being connected to the
amount of help they supply, I doubt I'll get any free info.
Again, thank you all and if anyone thinks of anything else, please contact me

I googled "balloonist Jack Cassel and came up with this:
The Hickman Courier-- Hickman, Fulton CO., KY, Thursday, Aug 25, 1910
Capt Jack Cassel, an aeronaut of Louisville, was fatally injured at
Mt. Vernon, IN, Thursday. The balloon in which he was making an
ascension exploded when he was about 200 feet in the air.
This was just a tiny blip of a paragraph on the front page of the
newspaper for Aug 25. So I don't know if the Thurs on when this
occurred was the Thurs prior or actually on Aug 25. Below the
paragraph was a paragraph about a strayed or stolen one brown jersey
cow with full description, and above the paragraph was one of a
doctor of Hickman buying a new auto from his brother.
Mt. Vernon is in Posey County, and I do not know if Willard has
Posey County newspapers or not. You might check at the library
in Mt. Vernon, IN.
Also on the site--
http://circushistory.org/bandwagon/bandwagonnamejanfeb09.htm
is an article in the Bandwagon magazine Vol 53, no. 1 (Jan-Geb), 2009
Cassel. Jack Cassel, balloon ascensions, p. 32
Evidently Jack had a balloon company-- it was on some sites that I
was leary of opening:
1899 Jack Cassel Balloon Company
Hope this helps. Helen Zuber Keusch
