WALKING TOURS
Riverside Historic District
South Saturday, May 9, 2:00 p.m.
The tour begins at the First Presbyterian Church, corner
of S.F Second and Mulberry Streets. The area covered will be
S.E. Second and First Streets between Chandler and Adams Avenue.

Here Lies Evansville
Sunday, May 10th, 2:00 p.m.
A walking tour of the 19th century section of Oak Hill Cemetery,
1400 East Virginia Street, sponsored by the Vanderburgh County
Historical Society and The City of Evansville. It begins at the
east end of the lake - inside the entrance gates.

Historic West Franklin Street
Monday, May 11, 6:30 p.m. This walking tour begins in front of
the West Branch Library at 2000 West Franklin Street.

Main Street Lunch-hour Stroll
Wednesday, May 13, 12:25-12:50.
Walk begins at the Victory Theater, Main and N.W. Sixth Streets
and will end at Main and N.W. Second Streets. After your lunch,
see the highlights of Main Street architecture. Come and go
as you please.

Washington Terrace Historic District (South Alvord Boulevard)
Thursday, May 14, 6:30 p.m.
The tour of the district begins at 761 South Alvord
Boulevard. Guide: Don Baker.
Akin Park Historic District
Saturday, May 16, 2:00 p.m.
The tour begins at the north end of Akin Park on Madison Avenue,
one block east of South Kentucky Avenue.

Riverside Historic District - East
Sunday, May 17, 2:00 p.m.
This tour begins at the open lot across from the Old First Baptist
Church/Moshe Benai Synagogue (S.F. Third and Cherry Streets).
Covers nearby portions of S.F. Second and Third Streets and
well as Oak and Cherry Streets.

EXHIBITS AND EVENTS
Evansville Museum of Arts and Science
presents
Masters of Design II: The Architecture of Clifford Shopbell"
Clifford Shopbell was Evansville's most prolific architect.
Active in Evansville from 1897 to 1939, he and the various
firms that bore his name designed hundreds of buildings all
over the Tri-State. Noted Shopbell buildings include the
Bosse home at 837 S.F. First St. (1916),
Reitz Memorial High School (1923),
the second YMCA building (1913),
Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Coliseum (1917),
and
Washington Avenue Presbyterian Church (1913).
This exhibit will feature photographs of Shopbell's work,
some of his renderings, as well as original drawings and
blueprints. The Shopbell exhibit is generously sponsored
by the William A. Carson Foundation.
It runs from May 3 - May 18.

Reitz Home, will waive the usual admission charge in
recognition of Preservation Week. Hours on this day are
1:00p.m. to 3:00p.m.
