To add to what Chris has mentioned below, Willard has quite a bit on Posey
Co. as well as surrounding counties in IN, KY, & IL. The primary focus of
Willard is a 50 county area with Vanderburgh Co. being the center. And with
Posey county being next door, it is almost like it is the center. There is
also the great files known as the Cox Collection that has unbelievable
amount of info you will not be able to find anywhere else. Good luck on
your Posey Co. research. Remember many came to Evansville for their
Hospital and may have died there - meaning the death certificate may be in
Evansville [possibly the same for birth]. Many marriages were performed in
Shawneetown, IL (Gallatin County) [I have heard of some going to Uniontown
(Union County) in KY for the same reasons] to get around IN marriage
restrictions at various times.
